ह्रीं श्रीं क्लीं मेधा प्रभा जीवन ज्योति प्रचण्ड।

शान्ति कान्ति जागृत प्रगति रचना शक्ति अखण्ड॥

Mother Gayatri, you the foremost to relieve pain surely,

The first to satisfy and the initial to bestow bliss actually,

You are super-intelligence, the bright light of life certainly,

Peace giver, start change, progress, creative power truly.

जगत जननी मङ्गल करनि गायत्री सुखधाम।

प्रणवों सावित्री स्वधा स्वाहा पूरन काम॥

Gayatri - the Mother of the whole creation universally,

You are benevolent and abode of bliss unquestionably,

You are pranav - origin of all, destroyer of evil definitely,

Bringing self-contentment, fulfilling desires positively.

भूर्भुवः स्वः ॐ युत जननी।

गायत्री नित कलिमल दहनी॥

अक्षर चौविस परम पुनीता।

इनमें बसें शास्त्र श्रुति गीता॥

You with AUM created – Bhur, Bhuvah and Swah undeniably,

You always remove the impurities of the darkness swiftly,

Your twenty-four alphabets are supreme purified and holy,

Within which the Holy Scriptures, sruti and Gita are surely.

 शाश्वत सतोगुणी सत रूपा।

सत्य सनातन सुधा अनूपा॥

हंसारूढ सितंबर धारी।

स्वर्ण कान्ति शुचि गगन- बिहारी॥

Gayatri is eternal, with qualities and form - noble and holy,

She is the matchless nectar of eternal Truth everlastingly,

With her white apparel she sits on her Swan gracefully,

Her golden complexion is holy and flies in the sky elegantly.

पुस्तक पुष्प कमण्डलु माला।

शुभ्र वर्ण तनु नयन विशाला॥

ध्यान धरत पुलकित हित होई।

सुख उपजत दुःख दुर्मति खोई॥

He who meditates upon the form of Gayatri devotionally,

Who holds a book, a flower, the holy vessel and a rosary,

Having white complexion, wide eyes - achieves bliss surely,

Is relieved of unhappiness and evil intellect unquestionably.

कामधेनु तुम सुर तरु छाया।

निराकार की अद्भुत माया॥

तुम्हरी शरण गहै जो कोई।

तरै सकल संकट सों सोई॥

You are the celestial - kamdhenu - fulfilling desires totally,

You are the incorporeal of amazing illusion unceasingly,

Anyone who comes under your protection will definitely,

Overcome all difficulties surrounding in life - positively.

सरस्वती लक्ष्मी तुम काली।

दिपै तुम्हारी ज्योति निराली॥

तुम्हरी महिमा पार न पावैं।

जो शारद शत मुख गुन गावैं॥

You are Saraswati, Lakshmi and Kali in one undeniably,

Your light glows wonderfully showing life’s path fully,

Your greatness can't be comprehended to anyone truly,

Even if Sharad with a hundred mouths sings your glory.

चार वेद की मात पुनीता।

तुम ब्रह्माणी गौरी सीता॥

महामन्त्र जितने जग माहीं।

कोउ गायत्री सम नाहीं॥

Gayatri, you – of the four Vedas – are mother holy,

You are the wife of Brahma, the Creator certainly,

You are Gauri, wife of Shiv and the Gita definitely,

No worldly chant is equal to Gayatri mantra positively.

सुमिरत हिय में ज्ञान प्रकासै।

आलस पाप अविद्या नासै॥

सृष्टि बीज जग जननि भवानी।

कालरात्रि वरदा कल्याणी॥

When you are remembered knowledge shines totally,

Idleness, sins and ignorance are then dispelled fully,

Bhawani! You are the benign provider of boons clearly,

You are the saviour of night of deluge unquestionably.

ब्रह्मा विष्णु रुद्र सुर जेते।

तुम सों पावें सुरता तेते॥

तुम भक्तन की भक्त तुम्हारे।

जननिहिं पुत्र प्राण ते प्यारे॥

Brahma, Vishnu and all the other Gods in the eternity,

Obtain and beget but from you their very own divinity,

The devotees are for you and you are for the devotees,

As the mother loves the child more than herself really.

महिमा अपरम्पार तुम्हारी।

जय जय जय त्रिपदा भयहारी॥

पूरित सकल ज्ञान विज्ञाना।

तुम सम अधिक न जगमे आना॥

Infinite and incomparable be your power and glory,

You who removes the three facet fear sees victory,

You pervade both gross and spiritual knowledge truly,

None, greater than you, came to the world definitely.

तुमहिं जानि कछु रहै न शेषा।

तुमहिं पाय कछु रहै न क्लेसा॥

जानत तुमहिं तुमहिं व्है जाई।

पारस परसि कुधातु सुहाई॥

After knowing you, nothing remains to be known surely,

If you have been got nothing more is needed definitely,

Those who understand you merge with you indisputably,

To others as base metal not gold touchstone you be only.

तुम्हरी शक्ति दिपै सब ठाई।

माता तुम सब ठौर समाई॥

ग्रह नक्षत्र ब्रह्माण्ड घनेरे।

सब गतिवान तुम्हारे प्रेरे॥

Your energy and strength shines everywhere universally,

Mother you are omnipresent in the universe undoubtedly,

The planets, constellations and infinite universe certainly,

Are inspired by you to remain in motion ever so constantly.

सकल सृष्टि की प्राण विधाता।

पालक पोषक नाशक त्राता॥

मातेश्वरी दया व्रत धारी।

तुम सन तरे पातकी भारी॥

You created the life-force of the whole creation surely,

You protect, nourish, destroy and save forever truly,

Divine mother! You vowed to be merciful affectionately,

Due to you even a great sinner is redeemed lovingly.

- 428 -

जापर कृपा तुम्हारी होई।

तापर कृपा करें सब कोई॥

मंद बुद्धि ते बुधि बल पावें।

रोगी रोग रहित हो जावें॥

On whom so ever you are merciful undoubtedly,

All are ever compassionate to him but positively,

The dull gains sharp intellect and strength fully,

And the diseased person is cured unquestionably.

दरिद्र मिटै कटै सब पीरा।

नाशै दुःख हरै भव भीरा॥

गृह क्लेश चित चिन्ता भारी।

नासै गायत्री भय हारी॥

When you are graceful, removed will be poverty,

Removed then are all the worries, fears and miseries,

All domestic sufferings and anxieties that heavy be,

You Gayatri are the redeemer and destroyer definitely.

सन्तति हीन सुसन्तति पावें।

सुख संपति युत मोद मनावें॥

भूत पिशाच सबै भय खावें।

यम के दूत निकट नहिं आवें॥

The childless obtains excellent children lovingly,

He enjoys life with great wealth and prosperity,

All his fears, of ghosts and goblins, are gone totally,

Yama’s (the god of death) agents don't approach truly.

जो सधवा सुमिरें चित लाई।

अछत सुहाग सदा सुखदाई॥

घर वर सुख प्रद लहैं कुमारी।

विधवा रहें सत्य व्रत धारी॥

If a married women remembers Gayatri with devotion truly,

She till her end will have a married life bursting with glee,

An unmarried girl gets an idyllic home and husband similarly,

And a widow will maintain her true vows ever devotedly.

जयति जयति जगदंब भवानी।

तुम सम ओर दयालु न दानी॥

जो सतगुरु सो दीक्षा पावे।

सो साधन को सफल बनावे॥

You, mother of the world and wife of Shiv, victorious be,

None is as merciful and charitable as you are Gayatri,

If a person is initiated by a true Guru will most certainly,

In his sincere Gayatri worship succeed indisputably.

सुमिरन करे सुरूचि बडभागी।

लहै मनोरथ गृही विरागी॥

अष्ट सिद्धि नवनिधि की दाता।

सब समर्थ गायत्री माता॥

If a person with good inclination remembers you honestly,

His desires be fulfilled - yet untied to them he be in reality,

The eight miraculous powers and nine treasures giver surely,

Omnipotent mother Gayatri is capable enough to bestow fully.

ऋषि मुनि यती तपस्वी योगी।

आरत अर्थी चिन्तित भोगी॥

जो जो शरण तुम्हारी आवें।

सो सो मन वांछित फल पावें॥

The sage, ascetic, Saint, performer of penance and yogi,

The poor, the worried and even the person unhappy,

Whoever comes under your shelter will but definitely,

Have the fruits of his desires fulfilled but completely.

बल बुधि विद्या शील स्वभाउ।

धन वैभव यश तेज उछाउ॥

सकल बढें उपजें सुख नाना।

जे यह पाठ करै धरि ध्याना॥

Strength, intellect, earning, improved character and nature be,

Multiplied as wealth, prestige and luxury in the true devotee,

Multiplying to giving numerous happiness comprehensively,

To those reciting the Gayatri Chalisa with rapt attention daily.

यह चालीसा भक्ति युत पाठ करै जो कोई।

तापर कृपा प्रसन्नता गायत्री की होय॥

Those who recite this chalisa as faithful devotees,

Are favoured by none other than Holy Mother Gayatri,

Who recites this Gayatri Chalisa with devotion daily,

Do please and get favoured by Holy Mother Gayatri.
