ALL THE GODS ARE TEENAGE GIRLS
PERSEPHONE
someone came up to me and called me a
‘god among men’ while proceeding to turn away from all our sisters
as if their scrutinization was the only way to
glorify me. i wanted to tell him ‘boy, i am not a god among men.
i am the queen of your hell and my sisters and i are suns,
far too bright for your mortal eyes. we will burn you quicker than
you can push us down. our blood is made of rose water and cyanide
so just try to make us bleed.’ but i figured his brain would have
just short-circuited
ARTEMIS
oh my gods, did you punch him in the face?

write about girls who are unsure and write
about girls who are strong and girls who
are soft but also write about the girls who love
more than anything and girls who are quick to
anger like a match ready to burn cities
as quickly as they can turn into water
a river ready to wash everything away. write about girls
who love other girls and girls who laugh and love
just as strongly as they can cry and girls who
are stronger than they think but aren’t
afraid to fall apart when they need to because
they know how to put themselves back together.
write these girls because they are you and me and
everyone all at once and that is the most
beautiful and magical and impossible thing
i have ever seen.
