The history of writing

Writing is a manifestation of the spoken language. In turn, speaking has been known as universal human competence, a characteristic of human beings, which is acquired without the need for precise instructions. It is thought that languages were developed in 35,000 BC. This is seen through the paintings by the Cro-Magnon man who tells about the life at that time. The images from this time show that language was a critical part of communication among which are telling stories, giving instructions and building relationships.

Of course, if you live in Canada, you may have considered hiring a thesis writing service, but do you know when writing appeared first? While it is clear that languages developed earlier, writing did not emerge until the 3500-3000 BCE in Mesopotamia. Did you know that the early scripts found were called cuneiforms and they involved making specific marks on wet clay using a reed? Before the beginning of the first dynastic period in 3150 BCE, the Egyptian writing system was already in play. It is speculated that they began their art right after the Mesopotamian cuneiform did. Their writings were called the hieroglyphics. There were also writings discovered in Mesoamerica made by the Maya that were independent of Europe and which has been dated as early as 500BCE.

In China, it was developed from the divination rites in the 1200BCE using oracle bones. There has been no evidence of cultural transference between Mesopotamia and China. The divination practices involved etching marks on shells and bones that were heated to the point of cracking. These cracks were what the diviner would use, and the etchings would evolve into the Chinese script.

History

Learning is impossible if there are no written words to interpret the physical evidence from the ancient past. These records tell the tales of the lives of people, and so is the necessary step in the written history of civilization and culture. The main issue that scholars had in the 20th centuries CE is understanding the Mayan Civilization so that they would not read the glyphs of the Maya and the wrong interpretations of the physical evidence sorted.

Writing inventions

The Sumerians first invented the writing as part of their long-distance communications that fueled trading activities. With the rise of cities, there increased the need for people to communicate and trade within the expanses between regions and towns. Pictographs were the earliest forms of writings. They consisted of objects and symbols and were used as aids in remembering such things that parcels of grain had gone to the destinations they found.

This new form of communication allowed the scribes to record all the events in a significant way as well as religious beliefs and create an art form which is not great for written word like literature.  Four poems are dealing with kind Enmerkar of Uruk which was composed by 2004 BCE. He had too much to remember, and so he had the idea to write his messages and thus writing was born.

The Epic of Gilgamesh was the first tale in the world and is also among the oldest literature composed that show evidence that it was older than c. 2150 BCE when it was written down and deals with the excellent deals of Uruk. It was also a unique way for people to preserve their culture, heritage, and history.  People understood the importance of the writings were now all able to record for posterity.

Conclusion

Regardless of the age of inception of the writing, it has served to communicate the feelings and thoughts of the person’s culture and the collective history of the group and their experienced with human conditions and preserve those with future generations. Today writing is much easier, and the preservation of texts is a lot more convenient.
