College is nothing like you would ever expect it to be. It is our senior year and we are about to head home for winter break. Jake is at the school gym with the baseball team doing off season workouts, but once he comes home we will be soon be heading back to Florida. I had tried out for the softball team and made it as well but we don't start off season workouts until a couple months before the season starts.

    Jake and I saved up for an apartment during our sophomore year. Usually during the breaks Anthony, Dylan and Maggie would come and stay with us because we have the extra room. Dylan stays with Anthony down at B.U. Maggie still stays at the dorms but she has her own now because she's a senior, so they have been staying there on the breaks.

    I heard the key in the door while I was making lunch in the kitchen. Jake came up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist and started kissing my neck. "Hey." He said. I turned around in his arms and kissed him. He moved one hand to the back of my neck and held me closer. He pulled away and looked at me. "I have to take a shower then finish packing and then we'll go to the airport alright?" He said. "Ok, I'll finish making lunch." I said. H leaned over and kissed me on the forehead and walked down the hall to the bathroom.

    After Jake took his shower and ate lunch, we packed the car and left for the airport. It was a two hour ride back down to Florida. We drove to my Dad's house. Jake's family was on vacation in the Caribbean so he was staying here. Usually we would stay at our parents home, not like it matters, we stay in the same apartment back in New Hampshire, but it's different in front of your parents. 

    My Dad has met someone. Her name is Sophie. She is really nice and I'm glad that my Dad has found someone better for him. Now that I'm not so close to him anymore, it gives me my piece of mind back that I know that someone is here for him. We walked in the door and Button came running over to me. We had to keep Button here because I wouldn't have been able to take care of her during school. "Emily! Jake! You guys made it!" My Dad said from the kitchen. He and Sophie were making dinner. "Yeah, once we got in we just drove over." I said walking over and giving him a hug. "Hi Sophie." I said giving her a hug. "Hey Emily, how are you?" She asked. "Glad to be on break finally." I said.

    Emily and I were pretty laid back for most of the break that we spent down in Florida. We went back two weeks early, Emily had gotten a call from Maggie and Emily said that she had sounded pretty upset about something so we decided to head back and see what was going on.

     Our flight left in an hour and we had just gotten through the bag check so we should make it to the plane on time. "Em, did she say anything about what was going on?" I asked her. "No. She said that she needed me though, I don't know what it's about though." She told me.

    We boarded our flight and made it back to New Hampshire by 7:30 that night. It was starting to snow heavily. We were expecting a snow storm tonight. Emily called Maggie once we got back to our place and unloaded the car. She asked if we would come over, so we drove on campus to Maggie's dorm. Emily knocked on the door and Anthony opened the door. "Hey guys." He said. He sounded nervous. We went in and I pulled Anthony aside. "Is everything alright?" I asked. He just looked at me and shook his head. We walked into the living room and sat down. Maggie was in the chair across from the couch. "Maggie, what is wrong?" Emily asked. Anthony sat on the other chair next to Maggie and held her hand. "I don't want you guys to freak out." She said. "Whatever it is you can tell us." Emily said. Maggie took a deep breath. "I'm three weeks pregnant." She said. There was just an uncomfortable silence in the room. After a minute Emily got up and walked over to Maggie and just hugged her. Maggie started crying. "Maggie don't cry. This is a baeutiful thing!" Emily said. "Emily, I'm not ready." She said. "You will be fine, trust me!" Emily told her. Anthony and I went into the kitchen to talk and let the girls talk in the living room. "What happened? You're always careful Anthony." I asked him. He didn't say anything. "Anthony, have you done anything to get started?" I asked. "No." He said. "And I don't know how it happened it just did ok." He said. "This is not something to say that it just happened. You should have been more careful! And you need to start taking action now instead of feeling sorry for yourself that you let this happen!" I was speaking loudly and I'm sure that the girls heard it. I couldn't deal with this. I walked towards the door, "Emily I'll be in the car when you're done." I said and walked out.

    Jake seemed mad at Anthony for some reason. He is his best friend and I don't think he should have acted that way towards him, they need us right now more than anything. "Maggie, how did this happen? I thought you guys were careful." I said. "We were, all the time. I don't know what happened." She said. "Are you sure?" I asked. She nodded her head. "I went to the doctor a couple days ago." She said. "Em, you have to help me. I can't do this alone." She said. " And I will. Both of us will, Jake and I. Don't you worry." I assured her. "Promise?" She asked. "Promise." I told her.

    I went down to the car where Jake was waiting. I got into the drivers seat and closed the door. "Why did you leave?" I asked him. "Emily, you don't understand," He started. "What. What don't I understand. The we just find out that our best friends have gotten pregnant and you walk out." I said. He didn't say anything until I started to back out of the space and start driving back to our apartment. "You don't know a lot about Anthony Emily." He started. "Freshman year the same thing happened. He got a girl pregnant, and I stuck with him through it. She miscarried after two months. But after that she moved away. I've gone through this before Em. And I don't want to be apart of this one." He said. "I don't think you should get involved either." He told me. "Jake, I can't not be there for Maggie." I said. We stopped at the stoplight at the intersection before our apartment building. "I just think you should focus on school, trust me it's a better choice to stay out of it." he said. The light turned green. "How can you say tha," I looked to my left and all I saw were two bright head lights.
