Freedom Fighters

Prologue: 2120

I carefully watch as our house blows up in flames. My husband, Arlen, went back into our house to go fetch our daughter, Micah. I'm praying they make it back out unharmed. I just continue to stand infront of the house as it continues to engulf in flames. The city is currently being attacked by an army thats against the government. Its gotten really out of hand and I just want to get out of here.

It's been what seems like forever just waiting for Arlen to come back out with Micah. I turn around towards the city. There's gunshots and screams being heard from all the way there. I turn back around and there's still no sight of Arlen. Where is he? I'm starting to panick at this point. I have to control my breathing so I don't pass out. I can't wait for Arlen anymore. I need to get out of this town before the government catches us.

Just when I was about to give up on waiting on them, Arlen comes running out of the building with Micah in his arms. He runs up to me, speaking frantically. "Rashida, you need to take Micah and go as far away as you can," he said as he handed over Micah to me. "The government isn't the only ones that want her."

"What do you mean?" I asked him as he pushed me farther away from the house as it starts to collapse.

"The Freedom Fighters," he said simply. "They want her to help go against the governemt but all this is just too much for a simple girl like Micah. So go far away and keep her away from any human being. It's whats best for her."

I quickly nod my head as I put a tight grip on Micah. "I love you, Arlen. Don't forget that," I said with tears in my eyes. I can't let my separation from Arlen keep me from protecting Micah. Micah is my priority. I won't let anything happen to her.

I turn around and didn't look back. Looking back would just be too painful. I'm gonna miss Arlen so much. Hopefully I'll be able to see him again but the chances of that is one in a million. It hurts knowing I might never see him again. He's the love of my life. I don't want to loose him forever.

As I was walking, I looked down to little Micah sleeping in my arms. She looks so peaceful as she sleeps. I don't exactly know why the government wants to take her. Ever since she was born, the government kept trying to get their hands on her. All they've said was that she's important to some experiment.

"I'll keep you safe," I slowly say to her little sleeping body. "I won't let anyone touch you." As I speak to her, she starts to squirm a bit but continues to sleep.

I continue to walk north. Within a few hours we finally reached the ghostlands, or outside the city. The reason outside of the city is called the ghostlands was because that's what the government of the city told us. Supposedly whoever leaves this city don't make it out alive. The ghostlands are suppose to be a horrid place where no one would ever want to go.

Soon enough there were rumors going around about there being other cities and other humans just living out on what they call "farms" whatever that is. No one really knows the truth about the ghostlands. I will soon find out. Hopefully it's not as bad as what the government has told us all these years.

Years ago, what they called North America got into a huge civil war against one another. Let's just say it didn't end too well. Apparently the whole country is all up in ruins except for our city, Ashenvale. And maybe a few other cities but like I said, I don't know exactly what's out there. Hopefully we can find a nice decent place to stay. I don't want to have to make my own makeshift house.

Days later we finally came in contact with another city that was called Darkshore. I became ecstatic to reach another city and have a place to stay.

The people of this city were so nice and welcomed us into their little city. They fed us nice and had a nice medical place. This seemed like a dream place to stay. But unfortunately this was all just an act. They knew who we were and that the government wanted Micah.

A group of scientists of Darkshore took Micah and locked her in a room to do tests with her. I was mortified. I need to get out of this god awful city. None of these people would let me see my baby girl.

Few weeks goes by and I still haven't been able to get Micah out of this place. Every night I have this horrible nightmare of Micah just screaming and crying. Its the most horrible thing I ever heard. I can still hear the screaming in my head even when I'm awake.

I was starting to go crazy with this whole thing. I finally snapped and figured a way to get Micah back. I had to break into the Laboratory. And it wasn't easy. There were scientists all over the building. Most likely so I wouldn't get in to steal back my daughter. I had to think this through. I needed a weapon if I wanted to get in.

It took me a few days but I finally found a gun as my weapon. Now all I had to do was go and rescue Micah from those awful scientists. I slowly sneak into the laboratory without being caught. It took me awhile and a lot of sneaking until I finally reached the room where they were keeping Micah. Today none of the scientists are even paying attention bc I ended up sneaking into the room and taking Micah. They noticed a few minutes later and started blaring sirens. That's when I knew I had to book it out of there.

I leave Darkshore as soon as possible and I don't look back. So much for living in a nice little city. I didn't know what to do anymore. I kept walking. I didn't stop and I was starting to get tired. All I wanted was a nice place to stay.

Days later I finally run into a little cottage with yard that has stuff coming out of the yard. This must be the "farms" people talk about. I've never seen what an actual farm looked like but it I were to guess I would surely guess this.

I slowly walk up to door. I look down at Micah who was just staring at me. I took a deep breath as I knocked on the cottage. A woman who looked no older than twenty five answered the door, her beautiful long blonde hair swaying as the breeze hit us.

"Hello, how can I help you?" the woman asked.

"Hi, I'm Rashida and this is my daughter Micah," I said as I gestured to Micah in my arms. "I was wondering if you could help us? I ran away from Ashenvale with my daughter and I need to keep her safe."

"Well considering we do hate the government, come on in," she said as she stepped aside to let me in. "I'm Azura and this is my husband Chauncey." She was gesturing to a man who was standing across the room. He walked over and introduced himself. He seemed like a sweet guy. I explained to them the whole situation with the government and the freedom fighters wanting Micah. They felt terribly sorry for us. That's when I decided to ask them something I didn't want to. But it felt right.

"Can you guys please raise Micah as if she were yours? And keep her away from any other human being? I need to go back to the government and keep them from looking for her. And I have no idea where my husband is. I just need Micah to be with loving people."

Azura looked over to Chauncey. He nodded his head and she turned back to face me. "Of course we will. We won't let anything happen to her. We just have one concern. When she turns eighteen, we won't be able to control her or keep her here since she will be a legal adult."

"That's fine. When she's eighteen she can make decisions for herself. But for now and up until then I just need someone to protect her." They nodded there head in understandment. I said my goodbyes to Micah before making my journey back to Ashenvale to speak to the governor. It takes me days to actually reach Ashenvale and when I arrive there I was immediately captured by the guards.

The guards took me straight to the mayor. "Look who has decided to come back," Mayor Bennu said as the guards guided me into the room.

"I needed to speak to you Mayor," I said.

"And why is that? Are you going to finally hand over your daughter?"

"No, I came to inform you that she is no more. Her little body couldn't handle everything going on," I tell the mayor.

"You're lying," she said sternly with a scowl on her face.

"No I'm not. I'm telling the truth!"

"Guards take her away. On her eighteenth birthday we will set out and find her. And once we do we will bring her back and make her watch your death!" the mayor said with an evil grin on her face. I started kicking and screaming as the guards dragged me away. This can't be happening.
