Chapter one

When I was younger I never thought I’d make it past thirty. But in the last couple of years I’d begun to think I actually might finally have a “happily ever after” and grow old, have kids, grandkids and the whole nine yards. Today I’m tied up, beaten and waiting for them to kill me. Tomorrow is my thirtieth birthday.

There’s so much to tell I don’t really know where to start. I guess chronologically would work but that could possibly be tedious. It did all start when I was eight. I can still remember the day like it was yesterday. I was just a kid and was walking home from school. It was spring and it was nice outside. School was just around the corner so I was okay walking home alone. My mom had to take care of my little brother. It was warm and I could feel the sunshine on my face. School was two blocks from my home. After crossing the street I’d normally find our cat sitting there waiting for me but today she wasn’t there. I remember thinking she’s probably sleeping in the backyard, enjoying the suns warmth as much as I.
