Chapter two.

                                                                    In  Svartalfheim :

The former king entered a large dreary room illuminated by a large fire in the center of the room. The stone walls , a dark gray was cold and foreboding. the flickering flames showed some faded wall hanging that seemed centuries old and forgotten. The sulfer smell just hung in the air. The floor, the stonework covered in dirt , concealing intricate patterns from long since dead kings. "What a dump" the former king thought.

"A DUMP!!!" a voice thundered that scared him. "Perhaps you would prefer the dogs! ON YOUR KNEES!"  the former king shook in fear but obeyed. "Your former title has no weight here, you may have been a king elsewhere but here you are a peasant..the lowest form of slave. You live because I will it.......disappoint me and its your death..a much more horrid and prolonged than the puny dogs in the pit."

"what do you want of me?"

"When the time is right I will tell you"

"what?..."

"SILENCE" thundered the disembodied voice as the king felt flames hotter than anything he had ever felt.

He fell to the floor in pain screaming and just as fast as it appeared the pain quickly passed.

strangely he did not burn physically.

"GET UP" shouted the strange woman as she effortlessly hauled him to his feet.

The Voice spoke again" Gullveig"

The strange woman's head turned "Yes My Lord"

The former king whispered "gullweig" and a cold shiver ran through him. He knew of her from his youth

Gullweig turned to the king and her eyes burned with fire.

"take him to his cell"

Chapter 1

I started writing this portion of the story long before Thor Dark World came out. Any similarities are coincidental.

The sky of Svartalfheim  was a combination of dark purple and gray as the king materialized. Mountains as tall as he had even seen sat in the distance. The dirt, he noticed as he looked down, was black instead of the familiar brown. The air carried a faint smell of sulfur from the volcanic activity in area. The sulfur smell made him slightly nauseous as he stood looking about his "new" home. Dark gray ruins lay as far as he could see as if a great battle took place eons ago. One great palace stood untouched by the destruction a short distance away. As he looked about he heard a voice and turned his head to again see the mysterious woman take his hand and lead him towards the castle.

"come..this way"

"where are we going?"

"to meet your master"

The words "Master" sent a chill through him. He had never been subservient to anyone in his life either as a prince or as king. Now, his previous life didnt matter. He was now to be a slave.

The walkway had long been worn down. the stones showing centuries of wear on their edges. The stones looked like limestone or granite he thought to himself. Step by step he approached.

"are there any others?"

"a few"

"why am I here?"

"I've told you"

"Can you at least tell me your name?"

The woman stopped in her tracks and turned towards him.

"why?"

"why?.."

"why do you need to know?"

He couldn't answer her. There was no reason. He simply followed her inside the palace.

                                                                          On Midgard:

A world away The skies were a deep blue and the sun shone brightly. Sigmund arose and quietly dressed. He glimpsed Nissa asleep in the bed. Her long flowing locks cascading across her shoulders and the pillows. A more beautiful sight he had never seen. Outside he heard laughter and stepped out to investigate. Over by the barn a group of men and women stood laughing. Sigmund wondered aloud what could be so funny and began walking over, the laughter increasing as he approached. One glimpse into the pen was all he needed. His friend Olaf lie spooned with a sow with a smile on his face Obviously drunken. Sigmund also began to laugh as he remembered a time long ago where under similar circumstances he spooned with a sow. He opened the pen door and roused Olaf with a kick to the foot. All that occurred was Olaf snuggled closer to the sow to the crowd's delight. Sigmund shook him and he roused. From a dead drunken sleep dreaming of his arms around a maiden , he opened his eyes and the harsh sunlight revealed the truth. Olaf blinked a few times and realized where he was. The double take of shock was priceless and Sigmund erupted in laughter. Olaf, being good natured looked at the sow and turned his head and said "reminds me of the time....." and began laughing. Sigmund extended his hand and helped Olaf up. "except mine was prettier!" exclaimed Sigmund to Olaf's delight. Olaf turned, looking at the sow, and agreed. If a sow could frown , she did.

"Olaf, Please stand downwind, your rather...."

"ripe?" exclaimed Olaf.

."Exactly..perhaps a bath?"

"I remember a place where the women were so....." said Olaf.

"I remember.."said Sigmund cutting him off. "Pity there's no places like that here"

"you wake up in the pen now! do you think it would be better?"

Olaf started laughing "perhaps not"

"You have no desires my king? " said Olaf using his seldom used title. It always annoyed Sigmund and Olaf wasnt sure why.

"Nisaa is more than enough for anyman"

"aye she is...and your a lucky man"

"yes, very lucky though she would say she was lucky, we both know the truth" said Sigmund

"she is a beauty" said Olaf wistfully

Sigmund was lost in thought for a moment. his mind drifting off to Nisaa's face. The long dark hair, the mysterious dark eyes that would catch the fire in his heart. his body shivered and he felt a thud on his shoulder.

"Sigmund"......"Sigmund".....

"your thinking about her again aren't you"

Sigmund smiled and said "guilty" somewhat embarrassed.

"you just saw her about an hour ago.." added Olaf

"that long?" said Sigmund laughing

Olaf grinned and started laughing

"Now about that bath" said Sigmund laughing as they walked towards his hut.
