1. Intro

All animals have souls, especially the ones that have four legs, hooves, and a tail that blows in the breeze when they gallop across a prairie. That animal would be a horse. A gigantic, graceful, thousand pound beast that could kill you in a second, but chooses not to. There's just something about them, and each horse is special. This is the story of a horse named Tennessee, a beautiful bay thoroughbred with white socks and a long flowing mane.

Thump. Thump. I could hear his hooves pounding against the dirt under neath of me. I am Tennessee's rider, Sierra. I have trained and ridden hundreds of horses, but Tennessee is my very own. I rescued him from an auction in Oklahoma and nursed him back to health. I have never seen such a graceful yet skilled jumper. One stride, two strides, three. He lifted off the ground and we soared over the final jump. A double oxar, four feet tall. If we clear it we win and break the world record. Everyone thinks it's impossible but I know we can do it. I start to sit back in my saddle, getting ready to land. My girth comes detached and my saddle slides off along with me. The audience gasps. I look up at the judges. They stand up and go towards the microphone. " Sierra and Tennessee have won. They still cleared the jump without a penalty. Congratulations." I jump up and down with excitement. Tennessee nickers. We have proven that we are winners not quitters because of the past.

3. A hard past

Tennessee and I have been through some tough times, but thankfully we were together all the way. A few years ago when Tennessee was a foal, his mother abandoned him. He was malnourished and seeker love. When I found out about him, I asked one of my stablemates to go pick him up. On their way back, they got into an accident. My stablemate broke his arm and nose while Tennessee broke his leg. I refused to give up on him. After a lot of care and a few surgeries, he got back up onto his feet again. I exercised him on the lunge line and got him to jump some poles. It was soon time to start riding him again. I started bareback and jumped him a lot because he loved it so much. After a few weeks of that, I put a saddle on him. He did really good and adjusted to it quickly. We entered in a few shows and came on second quite often but that wasn't sooooo bad. Soon we were registered in the showman competition. The second biggest horse show in the country. We trained and trained and trained. We did in and outs, water jumps, oxars, any jump u could imagine. Then it was time.
