I didn't plan on returning to The Above after the big attack.

It's been 10 years since then. At just 12 years old, I saw my first alien. It was the day of the cookout. everyone was in the backyard; I was in the front looking up at the stars. My father came to sit next to me. We were looking up at the sky, and we both saw a shooting star. He told me make a wish. But before I could, we saw what looked like a spacecraft. When all of a sudden, we see alien like creatures come down from the craft.

My father ran to the phone to call the police, thinking they could do something. But just before he dialed "911", the aliens started attacking. My mother ran to get me. She put me in the kitchen, sat me down and told me "Don't move"! When she ran to get he underground safe house ready, I looked out the window. The aliens were close. As I watched, I saw them invade my neighbor's house. Before I could see what happens after, my father grabbed me from behind and ran. He was running towards the safe house. Mother was already down there. We didn't know what to do so we just sat down and waited. As we were waiting, we heard bombs going off and noises that sound like lasers. I remembered how scared I was, but I knew I had to be brave. There were so many questions I had, like "Why is Earth being invaded?", "What do they want?", and "Am I going to die"?

For a little girl you wouldnt expect her to think or ask questions like this, but I was.

My father was trying to comfort me and my mother. Then out of nowhere, it got silent, but we were still silent. We heard footsteps above us, mother thought it was from humans; father and I thought it was an alien. They were speaking, but it wasn't English, or even human. It was clear that they weren't humans and that if we made any type of sound they would find us. My mother kept crying and that wasn't helping us with staying quiet, so I helped her stay calm and quiet.
