Broken And Shattered

Prologue

Hi. I'm Raven ShadowBlade. The daughter of Alexander ShadowBlade one of the most feared vampire lords in history. Now a lot of you might be thinking, What's up with her last name?  trust me, I didn't choose it. and I have no idea on how it came to be but hey, it's kind of cool. And yes I said vampire. And please don't ask me to explain what a vampire is. because in truth, there are so many types out there now. Thanks to a little chaotic thing called love. The only thing all vampires have in common is vampire blood(some don't even drink blood). well, unless you're a pureblood vampire. Those guys are descended from the famous Dracula himself, to the rest of the world, they're kind of crazy. they breed with their own family, just to "maintain their bloodline" purebloods are literally stone cold. most of them are just bloodless snobs complaining that one of their own isn't on the throne. In the human world, they're serial killers you see on the news. but the kind of vampire I am is complicated. The Van Wildfire line is often called the "Whore family" just because our family falls in love with werewolves, witches, sorcerers, humans, you name it. so we've got some diverse genes in us. I even have a little bit of mermaid and dragon in me. as I said love is chaotic. but hey, what it did with my life, was amazing.  I'm Raven ShadowBlade , and this is my story.

be ready, it's a hell of a journey,

Nobility meets royalty

So this is just me trying to let you know as much as you should. all of these chapters will be in Raven's point of view so just so you know. and now, let's get on with the story!

I thought this would be a normal day. turns out I was wrong, very wrong. I woke up as usual, (not in a coffin, thank god. I'm not that dramatic thank you)feeling the sunlight hit my face as it poured in through my window. another benefit from my crazy bloodline. I chuckled at the thought. it was ironic, something that was supposed to burn me to death, feeling refreshing. Thank you bloodline! And speaking of blood, I was starving. I sprinted downstairs for breakfast. My father was sitting on the couch with his phone. "blood's on the table." I rushed there to find a mug of the red liquid we vampires all craved. it smelled like heaven, (not that I'll go there I'll probably go to hell even if I was mortal but, one's got to hope, right?)

"what if a human was here?" there it was.Let my old man's usual lecture begin(emphasis on the old. come on! we were all old. oh well we're living 'life' to its fullest.) "they would've witnessed your vampire speed." I rolled my eyes. here we go again.

"Dad. as beautiful as all your lands and buildings are, no human is going to notice them much less walk into them." as soon as I said it, he gave me a sharp glare. my attention drifted to his texts. I couldn't help being curious. "who are you sending death threats to now?"

he cracked up a sly smile. "Lord Hawkins." I sent his smile right back to him. Lord Hawkins was one of the most awful business-men my father had ever met. He always milks his deals. like say you offer one million gold pieces for one of his small properties, he'll always try to raise it to two million, or even three unless you handle him properly. lucky for us, my dad was maybe the most feared vampire in history. But in truth, he had a big heart(but it's best the rest of the world didn't know that). Unlike my idiotic bitch of a mother. She was some sort of sorceress/goddess type we don't talk about her often. All I knew, was that she went off to be the king's mistress and cheated on my father. She went missing shortly after because she couldn't bear children anymore. And my father decided not to kill me because well, I was his daughter. But one thing we could both agree on was that we never wanted to see her again.ever.

But enough thoughts on my mother. Thinking about her wouldn't be any good.

"So which one did you send?"  Father handed me his phone. I went into messages and scrolled down to Lord Hawkin's contact it read,

I swear if you raise the price again I will personally tear you limb from limb until you are a gory pile of ash and vampire blood. do you understand?

I laughed. it was one of his classic threats. not intense, a little soft, but it gets the job done. It's funny how you nearly have two lives. one that shielded from everybody but your loved ones, and one you put out there to the world. I went out the door as usual to get the mail. unfortunately, all of the accounts and the important news was on paper, so we still use post boxes. as I opened the metal box, unveiling the stack of letters inside. I couldn't help but notice one letter with the royal seal on it. it slid out and nearly fell into a puddle but I froze it mid-air and brought it right up to my hand. I read the front of it.

To the lady Raven ShadowBlade                                                                                                                                           From the royal court

What could the Royals want with me? My father was rival of the king and my mother, well I was guessing she had some bad blood with them when she went missing.and I, was the evil offspring, as they would put it, of them both. I swiped the rest of the mail and ran to see what dad would make of it.

He didn't react well. after shredding it open with his fangs and nearly destroying the letter itself. The letter was even worse. I was invited or rather commanded to attend court for this competition for the prince's hand. They were to get me to the palace in two weeks at noon. if I didn't show, they would strip my father of his lands and kill us both. so I kind of had to go. My father tried to remain calm. he told me time and time again, that maybe it was a prank by the prince. But he was wrong, dead wrong. and soon enough, there was a carriage at the door to escort me to the palace. you'd think that I'd be happy. getting to experience royal life just what any girl would've wanted. right? well, not for me. when we were saying goodbye Dad swept me into a big embrace and whispered in my ear. "if you hate them that much, then use this opportunity to bring them down.just don't marry the prince." I smiled tearfully, revealing my fangs and gave him a small nod, and stepped inside. his words echoed in my mind during the whole journey.I also wondered if they all wore puffy gowns at court. well, they would be surprised when I arrived in my usual black crop top, leather jacket, black skinny jeans, and boots. The carriage passed hills and streams. I didn't bother to look at the view. after all, it was the view of me being torn apart from my dad, I wasn't pretty through my eyes.  and then once we came through a valley, the carriage came to an abrupt stop.

"driver!" I called out after about 30 seconds or so. "what's going on up there?" I didn't hesitate to use vampire speed to run to the front. it was how I ran all the time. I was confused until I saw the stake in his heart I turned my head to see what did it and before I knew it, a group of vampires surrounded me with stakes.

"Seems like we have a ShadowBlade ..." the leader said, baring his fangs as if I would be scared. they all came at me. I was lucky that I never left anywhere without at least a few stakes. I unsheathed one and began.  and after a few minutes, they were all dead except one, the leader.  I  still had cuts from killing the others, but that couldn't stop me from destroying the idiot.         "so how's your father doing?" he was practically hissing. I dodged another blow from the right as he cut me in the leg with the stake.  he expected me to scream in pain, I wouldn't give him that luxury.

"You are interesting." he just wouldn't let it go would he? "is it true what I hear about your mother?" that did it. he caught me off guard and pinned me to the ground, about to drive a stake through me. I thought about my father. he would suffer more if I died. I wouldn't show up to the stupid competition for the stupid prince's hand. and he would die too, penniless, and disgraced. I had to live. not only for myself. I slid under him and leaped onto his back.

"Never mess with a ShadowBlade."I whispered in his ear as he looked at me in horror. and with a snap, his head came clean off.

how would I get back now? The group of vampires, dead before me made sure I couldn't go by carriage, they wrecked it. the palace wasn't far away, I could see it. so I did what first came to mind. I ran as fast as I could, I felt the wind in my hair, all the areas I was cut didn't hurt that much anymore, I enjoyed my last minutes of freedom and just then, I was at the palace gate. Let this journey begin.
