My Songs

Introduction

Every chapter is a song, either as a concept or a finished piece.

1.) Avalanche - Not every love ends happily, but that doesn't mean we have to hate each other when we part.  - My first song, or at least that's what it is in my head. This was something that came to me  and refused to be left alone until it was finished. I have no musical background, appreciation aside, so I apologize for how poorly this may be portrayed. Ah, and I hear it as a country song.

2.) Surrender Again - Something that hasn't completed itself, like the first. More of a punk rock song.

3.) Yamakai - Opening and Ending Theme - This was from a long ways back, when I used to make my writing into a cartoon for myself. It's a bit silly, but when I found it I was fond enough that I didn't want to lose it again, so, here we have it. Yamakai was a novel I worked on a lot when I was very young; my first serious project.

Avalanche

I've been standing under an avalanche (avalanche, avalanche)
I've been telling you that I won't go back (won't go back, won't go back)
Through the darkest days and the stormy nights (stormy nights, stormy nights)
I've been telling you that things just ain't right (just ain't right, just ain't right)

But the words pass through my lips
And you just don't seem to hear
And I just can't raise my voice
Loud enough to say it clear

Have you ever heard the moon-song, cryin' out it's bitter cold?
Have you ever seen the snowdrift, undisturbed and all alone?
Have you ever tasted Heaven, sweet, and pure, and innocent?
Have you ever tasted Heaven?

Look how far we've come now
Another year's gone by
Just staring at those hilltops
Wondering if, and when, and why

Did the Summer melt your heart, babe,
Or are we still chipping ice?
Said I'd give you one more chance now,
Ended up I gave it twice

Said I'd wait just one more winter...
Then I'd ask you again...

Have you ever heard the moon-song, cryin' out it's bitter cold?
Have you ever passed a snowdrift, undisturbed and all alone?
Have you ever felt the rain fall, as the droplets turned to stars?
Have you ever tasted Heaven?

I'm not tryin' to make up your mind
I'm not tryin' to force you a path
I'm just askin' the question that's been nagging my mind
Since you said that you wanted me back

Girl, I wish that things were easy
How I pray there'd be no doubt
But your love keeps on dropping me
Toppling me, knocking me,
Just like an avalanche

Well I've waited one more winter,
'Cause I promised that I would,
But my world's been ever changin',
And I've been watching where you stood,

Like the pieces of a puzzle,
Never meant to fall in place
I came tellin' you it's over,
Can't keep steady at your pace

And I wish you love
And I wish you peace
And I wish you all of the things
That I've finally found
But for you could never bring

And I know that out there somewhere
There'll be one voice you can hear
And I hope it finds you soon, girl
Singing soft, and sound, and clear...

Have you ever heard the moon-song, cryin' out it's bitter cold?
Have you ever seen the snowdrift, undisturbed and all alone?
Have you ever tasted Heaven, sweet, and pure, and innocent?
Have you ever tasted Heaven?

Have you ever felt the rain fall, as the droplets turned to stars?
Have you ever felt like no one else, could know just who you are?
Have you ever kissed a snowflake, knowing no one else could, too?
Have you ever tasted Heaven?

Surrender Again

When the truth comes calling and you feel yourself falling, just stay a-wake with me.
When the judgement's over, like a four-leaf-clover, we'll pray for one last day.
As the fire passes over, and there's nothing left but smoulders, we'll have to start again.

So why now?
What did we do?
We're so wrong - from your point of view.
Like black skies, and crimson rain.
We'll lie down, Surrender Again.

Just one more time. (x8)

So lie down!
It's your point of view.
There's no wrong - when you're looking at you.
Every day, we go on.
Reaching for - we don't know what.
Turning towards every new dawn.

We're not wrong - But we're not you.
