My Elf On The Shelf

My Elf on the Shelf

My alarm clock started ringing. It was December 16, a cold Saturday morning. I stood up and got ready for today.

"SISSY! Wake up!" The little girl screaming was my little six year-old sister, Anna. She is very spoiled, loves everything pink and unicorns, and- is VERY annoying.

"REBECCA! C'mon! We're going to the toy store today! Remember? To buy our elf on the shelf!"

Yes, Anna is a HUGE fan of the "Elf on the Shelf". She always gets the pink one. And if there isn't a pink one, then things get a little-complicated.

I'm thirteen year-old Rebecca Edwards, and I live with my mom, dad, Anna, my other little sister, Annie (which is six months old) and my grandma and grandpa.

"REBECCA!" yelled Anna. "YEAH YEAH YEAH! I'm coming!" Anna gets on my nerves very easily.

"Good morning, Sweetheart." my mom said cheerfully. "Mornin'! What have we got for breakfast?" I asked.

"Toast. Nothing special." She said. "Okay, well... Where is dad? Wasn't he supposed to be here?" I asked. My dad does construction.

"Dad had to go to work with Grandpa. They'll come at eight tonight." Mom said, while cleaning some dishes in the sink.

"Oh," I sighed. Dad promised along with Grandpa that they'll come with us to the toy store. But, oh well.

"Ugh! Moooooommm! Hannah just texted me and said she never wants to see me again!" And did I also mention that I have a SPOILED BRATTY sixteen year-old sister? Well, yeah, I do. Her name is Jessica.

"Sorry, Sweetheart, but I can't do anything about that." Mom said. "Of course you can't do anything about it! YOU ALL SUCK!"

She's just as spoiled as Anna. Maybe a lot more spoiled than Anna.

"Let's just eat breakfast and go to the toy store, okay everyone? Grandma is coming with us too." Mom said, with some happiness.

"UGH! Not the toy store! I'm not a baby! I would want a new phone! The new iPhone! And why is Smelly Grandma coming?" Jessica rolled her eyes.

"That's it! Jessica! No phone, television, electronics, parties, or going out from the house except to school and back." Mom said angrily.

"Ugh! Whatever!" Jessica yelled and everyone ate their breakfasts quietly.

Thirty minutes later, we were at Santa's Holiday Toy Store. Long story short-workers dress up as elves, a guy dresses up as Santa, and the toy store opens one week per year-from December 16 to December 23.

"Yay! I'm getting the girl elf with the cute little pink outfit!" said Anna, excitedly. Little Annie sat playfully in her carriage, sipping her milk, and Jessica had her nose in her phone.

"I can't believe JohnKelly is on air! That's so lit! Can't believe he has one million-"

"Sweetheart, please put your phone away. It's family sharing time." Mom sighed.

"But the whole family isn't here," Jessica said with sass. "Besides, family sharing time shouldn't be at a toy store. It should be like a...an expensive restaurant!" Jessica said excitedly. "Yes! And Jake can finally ask!"

Mom just shook her head. As we walked into the store, we were welcomed by two people dressed as elves.

"Halo! Wha would yo lika toa bai?" said a weird guy. "I'm so sorry, he's new. Hello! What would you like to buy?" said a girl.

"Elf on the Shelf! Elf on the Shelf!" yelled Anna. "Ah, yes. The Elf on the Shelf." said the girl with a smile. "Every little kid wants one. Which one would you like?" she asked.

"Pink girl! Pink girl, please!" Yelled Anna.

"Pi!" said Annie!

"Wow! Annie just said pink!" Mom said happily. Yay! So Annie got a pink one, too. I got the regular elf on the shelf, and Jessica got another case for her phone. Of course.

Later that evening, everyone was getting ready for bed. Dad and Grandpa saw our elves on the shelf above the fireplace. We were very proud of them.

And so everyone went to sleep. It was 12:00 a.m. and I woke up to the sound of footsteps downstairs. Who would be downstairs at this hour? I thought. Maybe it was Anna looking at her elf on the shelf. I went downstairs to investigate.

I didn't see anyone down there. But something caught my eye. MY elf on the shelf. It was sitting on the living room coffee table staring at me. Its stares send shivers down my spine. Its eyes started turning red. And if you listened VERY closely, you could hear it chant.

"Come here, Rachel. Come and pick me up. I'll grant you one simple wish. Just come, and pick me up,"

I listened closely to it. H-how did it know my name? "No. NO. Do you hear me?! NO!" I said.

The elf's eyes turned evil. I looked away. "Sissy. Sissy. Sissy. You didn't listen. You made, you made, you made it angry. Sissy."

Rachel was chanting behind me. She picked up the elf and petted it. "Go." And the elf chased after me, taking me to my fate.
