Chapter 1

I woke up lazily from my bed. This had been a routine since I finished my Kenya National examinations with no work to do and no computer classes to attend to like most of my friends. So probably today I would spend my day watching movies or ogling over my phone.

"Morning mum?"

"Morning to you,how are you?"replied my sweet mother.

"I'm fine😊."I said as usual with enthusiasm.

"Have you spoken to Lindsay?"she asked with concern.

This particular Lindsey happens to be my cousin from Tanzania who visited us in Nairobi over the Christmas holidays. She came with my other cousins John and Binti. We had created a tight bond with these guys you coul have thought we were sisters at first glance

"No,why?"I asked her raising my eyebrows.

"Her father died yesterday at midnight."she suddenly broke the news that left me gasping.

Yes I remember Lindsey's father was sick when she came over but I never knew it was this serious. I rushed to my phone and texted my cousin.I did not want her to notice I got wind of the matter so I started with the usual pleasantries.

"Winnie I've lost my father.Ive started the life of  being fatherless. Why me?"read her text that left me heavy hearted.I imagined how she felt at the moment.I tried talking her out of it and promised her that the Lord we worship will not forsake her and will see her through in life.I encouraged her to be strong and face the situation.

Just then my phone rung.It was Neema,my high school friend and best friend. She had called to inform me that her father had passed on earlier that night.

"What is happening today?"I asked myself in awe

Her father had been sick while we were at school and now he was also dead.Oh no.I felt sorry for both of them for I knew that they felt like dying at the moment.
