Tips to balance career and family

One of the most difficult things about being a parent is that you are always going to have this dynamic tug of war between your career and your kids. It doesn’t matter what you do, how old you are, where you are in your career, what industry you work in, or where you live: it is absolutely the same all over. That is because these days, so many careers demand absolutely all of you, and that is something that as a parent, we are often not willing to give. So what does that mean for us, and our career progression? Is it possible to be able to be a good dad and a successful man? Is there any way to balance a career and a family?

We think that there is, but that opportunity often comes in very strange ways. It often means that you have to start to think about your career in a slightly different way, and if your kids mean that much to you, at that point it might be a great opportunity to begin to consider an alternate vocation out and out. Changing what you do for your family is one of the noblest things that a dad can do for his kids, and there are plenty of different options out there that would allow you a huge amount more time than you are probably getting now. Here are just some of the options:

1.       Teacher

Teachers have so many difficult aspects of their jobs, but at the end of the day they have amazing holidays and can often by the back home with their kids by 5 in the afternoon – something that is surely worth having to grade all those papers. And don’t even get us started on the summer vacation, which can often be eight solid weeks of time with the family.

2.       Writer

This may not be everybody's first decision, but rather it is a splendid profession in the event that you need the outright adaptability when you work. The time, the place, and even what you work on is absolutely down to you, and that means that you can choose to work when the kids are busy, and then be free for them when they are, giving you the best of both worlds.

3.       Botox administrator

Now that you can do your Botox training and certification online, there is absolutely no reason why anyone cannot get their Botox certification – you can even do all of the training in the comfort of your own home, and then you never have to be too far away from your family again. When you run your own Botox administration business, you can even set your own hours.

4.       Accountant

Last but by no means least, you may not think that the role of an accountant can give you that much flexibility – but when you think about it, there is only one time of the year when everyone will need your services! If you play your cards right, then you can get everything that you need for the whole year in those crazy weeks, and then live at home without a care in the world.
