Not My Mum

Dear Reader,

Yes! Over 200 reads. So I've decided to do a 200 reads special.

I'm having a bit of a break from Drama Queen (I said a bit) to write this. And I'm writing this story, Not My Mum, specially because of my 200 reads. I'll write it in batches, like I do for most of my books. Just stay tuned.

So sit back and relax. You definitely deserve this!

Chapter One

"Thanks for dinner, Mum," I said, heading upstairs. "I'm just gonna read a book for a bit."

Mum nodded and got started on the dishes. Jaidyn, my big sister, was doing her homework at the dining table. She was gonna get so told off by Dad. We weren't allowed to work at the dinner table. Dad said homework was supposed to be done in our bedrooms.

Once I entered my room, I heard Dad shouting at Jaidyn. "HOW many times do I have to tell you? Do your homework IN YOUR BEDROOM! That's why you have one! You're fifteen, for goodness' sake! Why is so har for you to listen to what I say?"

"O-kay," Jaidyn groaned, stomping up the stairs and entering her room. She slammed the door shut and jumped onto her bed.

I picked up my reading book and snuggled up into my duvet, lost in the world of Hetty Feather and her Victorian adventures.

Chapter Two

About an hour later, Mum came into my room in her pyjamas, her hair in a messy bun.

"Book away," she said to me.

I put it down on my bedside table and looked up at Mum.

"Night, precious," she said, kissing my forehead.

"Night, Mum."

She walked out. "Would you like me to turn off the light?"

"Yes please," I answered, switching on my cherry red lamp.

The main was switched off and once Mum was gone, I swiped my phone from where it was sitting beside my lamp and turned it on. My BFF, Michelle, had sent me so many text messages.

I clicked the Home button on my iPhone and put it beside my lamp. Once I'd switched off my lamp, I shut my eyes and drifted off to sleep...
