About the author

Sarah Y. is a young entrepreneur with more than 15 years sales & marketing experiences. Started up her career as a service sales in a public listed firm, she was then being offered to setup and develop a new startup IT firm in Malaysia by a Singaporean owner at the aged of 24.


Graduated with a degree in Economics with majoring in Business Management, she is an enthusiast in IT and internet related stuffs. That make her taken up a digital marketing workshop to improve herself in online marketing. 


During the entrepreneurship, she grew customers from zero to 3,000 accounts; grew yearly sales turnover from thousands to 6 millions using proactive marketing approaches. 


She resigned as the Country Manager after the 11th years service in the same firm and remained as minority shareholder and advisor,  when she decided to move to Italy together with her family. Meanwhile, she started an online grocery business for international customers with his brother called yappyonline.com in 2014. 


However, Yappyonline.com didn’t turn out to be successful mainly due to the immature online marketing platform at that time and inconsistent shipping rates. Despite sales were coming in thru the marketplace without further efforts on advertising, but the inconsistent shipping rates had a great impact on the gross profit of the product sales.


Sarah moves back to Malaysia for good in end of 2016 after 2.5 years vaca-breaks. She was then being offered to be marketing manager for several companies to grow existing businesses to achieve its business goals. There’s how she started her role as freelance marketer for several customers. 


Every business starts from a dream. Growing a business has always be her passion and key motivator. She is now realized she wants to do more for the society. Today, she is sharing her experiences, both failures and successes to other young entrepreneurs, to help them to catch their dreams.

Chapter 1: What’s Next?

 So, you have incorporated your business and get all the paper done, and now you can start operating your business. But, where’s the customer?


You have a breadth of amazing products or services to offer. Without a customer to buy them, your products or services are just valueless. 


The questions popping in your mind now are:

- Who are my target customers?

- Where to find the customers?

- How to reach to the customers?

- How should I sell to the customers?


The fact is there are million ways to get in touch with the customers, and depend on your willingness to reach to them. Some of the ways are “old fashioned” but still effective, and some of the ways are new technique according to the evolution of technology. 


During the first few years of my entrepreneurship, I used the blend of both old and new methods that works for the customers. There’s no “perfect way”, as some ways work for some customers and some don’t.
