Luminescent Adolescents

Chapter One

The day I met Silver was the day I found out how much light was in life. I never expected my somber life to explode with such memories.

The day I met Silver was also the day I found out just how dark the light can make your surroundings.

This is the the story of my luminescent adolescents.

                           ********

I looked out across the court yard for some reason. My earphones were on, my nose in a book and my mind wandering, so I had no reason, nor the intention, to look up into my surroundings, My head just kind of snapped up. I dismissed my minds rambling and started to dip my head back down to finish the chapter of the Brothers Grimm book, when something caught my eye.

It was a boy, well, if you could call him that. He was tall, had a built frame, dark hair that curled at his ears and neck a strong jaw and the best looking arms I've ever seen.

Oh my gosh, he was beautiful. I felt my face heating as I watched him cross the breeze way. He stopped suddenly and scanned the area and finally turned my way.

My eyes widened and I felt my cheeks grow even more warm. He had seen me watching him like a science experiment!

'Just look away! I chastised myself.

But I just couldn't get myself to look away. 'He had such amazing eyes. So green. Wow.' I found myself thinking.

"Hey, how are you?" The beautiful boy said. What?! How did he get over here? How long was I spaced out thinking about those eyes!?! Those eyes.... The ones looking into my soul this very second. Oh god.

"Hello?" He waved his hand in front of my face, worry and amusement in his eyes.

"Oh! I'm sorry. Um,I'm good? Uh...And you? Haha..." I finally managed looking down to hide my embarrassment.

"Well, I'm better now," he smiled. "I was wondering if you could help me out?"

What.

I looked up blankly at him.

"I mean, if you don't want to, it's cool.." He quickly said.

"Oh! Oh gosh, no! I mean, yes! I'll help you," I rambled. "Uh, what's up? What can I help with?" God I'm such a ditz.

His eyes lit up and he smiled again, oh, his smile; straight white rows of wow. And his lips... Full and perfect. "I'm looking for the main office. To principal Roy's office."

"Oh, right, it's this way," I said closing my book and stuffing it into my backpack. "Are you new here?" I asked and started to walk toward the commons on the inside of the school.

"Are you new here?" I asked.

Yeah, I grew up in Oregon ." He started to explain. "My mom lives here in Canyon, but I lived with my dad there most of my life."

He looked down, a sad look in his gorgeous eyes.

"Well, Welcome to The Canyon, Texas, where the trucks are big and egos even bigger!" I joked, hoping to cheer him up.

He smiled and laughed, which I might add, is the most amazing sound I'm the world. "Yeah, I've noticed the huge trucks, but as far as I can tell, egos aren't that big here. You seem nice enough."

"Well friend, let me warn you know,"I laughed. "I'm not like everyone else from around here."

"Alright, so what makes you so different?" He chuckled.

"Because I'm actually real. And I have mad style." I said jokingly pointing down to my black skinny jeans with holes in the knees, and Arctic Monkeys tee. "And also, I have a brain."

He laughed again, man I was on a roll! "That's hilerious." He smiled. "So, can I ask your name?"

'Should I tell him?' I wondered but before I could finish making decision we reached the office door and the bell ending my lunch hour rang. "Oh! I've got to go! Pre-cal homework isn't going to copy it's self!" I yelled as I jogged away, leaving him in front of the main office.

"Wait! You never told me your name." I heard him holler after me. I turned around, smiled and shrugged.

"Until next time." I waved and left him there with no intention for there to be a "next time".

Chapter Two

"No, I didn't tell him my name," I said spooning a gob of Mac and cheese into my mouth. "The bell rang just as I was thinking about it. And you know, it's not like I'll really ever see him again. The "In Crowd" will probably get a hold of him within a week, so why even bother with it?"

"NO I DO NOT KNOW. You should have been all over new kids bizz while you could! If he's as hot as you say, every girl in Bomb City will be all up on his junk by the end of the week! I swear what am I going to do with you!" Kailee, my spazzy hipster best friend yelled over my cell phone receiver.

"Yeah, okay," I mumbled, licking the cheese off my spoon. "Well anyway, I've gotta go, I'm on dish duty tonight."

"Okay well, if you see him tomorrow you better give me the deets." I could hear her smirk over the phone.

"Yeah, yeah." I laughed. "I'll see you in pre cal tomorrow. Nightynight, KaiKai."

"Sleep well, RaiRai!" She hung up.

"Every girl Bomb City, huh?" I though out loud while starting the dishes.

I wonder if that's true? I mean he's ridiculously gorgeous. And he's so nice and sweet. What's not to like? Maybe I really should stay away from him... It'll help with his new social status here...

I sighed. Just when I though I might have a chance to be with friends with someone real.. 'Oh well,' I thought, turning off the tap and starting dish washer.

I walked up the stairs, stopping at my moms room before heading to bed, and poked my head in. She was sleeping.. She was always so tired. Poor mom. She was always working to try and support us, and wouldn't let me get a job. "You have to focus on getting school done! After you graduate, you can get a part time job while you go to college." She would say.

That woman. She was way too serious about non serious things. I laughed to my self.

I walked over to the side of her bed and moved her hair out of her eyes, her pretty hazel eyes. I smiled and turned off her bed side lamp.

"Night, mom." I whispered as I closed the door.

I shuffled the rest of the way down the hall to my room, I wonder what he thinks about me? I bet he thinks I'm just some loser girl that he got to help him. Maybe we couldn't be friends. I would just have to ignore his immaculate beauty. 'Yeah, like that's possible.' The voice in my head snorted.

Whatever. I was fine before he got here and I'll be fine if we just not cross paths again. Just me, my music, books and Kailee.

'I wonder what his lips taste like?' The evil voice in my head teased.

Can you not? I rolled my eyes as I pulled my blanket over myself, thinking only of pretty green irises.

***

"GOOD MORNING!" Kailee yelled over her scarf.

"Meh," I mumbled getting out of my car. "Can you keep the happy down? You know I'm not a morning person." I grumbled, yawning.

"Gosh! You're such a potato. Can you just be happy for like, two seconds?" Kai sighed. I half smiled for two seconds and started walking into the school front door.

"I was blogging all night. You know this. My internet posse needed me..." I told Kai. She thinks my blogging and all things internet addiction is out of control (which it totally isnt. I have it 100% under control.).

"Well you should start sleeping more. Your Tumblr fans can go one day with out your so exciting life." She scoffed.

"Don't tell me how to live my life!" I yelled at her. She laughed while we got in line for Java city, the schools mini cafe.

While we were talking and sipping our cappachinos by our favorite piller Kailee asked about the new kid.

"Well I haven't seen him today, and besides, I already made the decision to stay away from him. Hanging around a loser like me will just hold him back in a town like this." I explained to her and looked up, but she wasn't looking at, she was looking behind me. At the new guy. Who was standing right at my shoulder, smirking.

"Now what makes you think I want you staying away from me or care about what all these strangers think about me?" He chuckled in my ear.

I felt my face grow hot and my whole body shutter at his closeness right as the bell rang for class to start.

"My names Silver, by the way," he said. "Silver Adams. And I'll see you later." Silver smiled and walked away.

Well, I guess staying away isn't going to be an option for me.
