The Story of the Swords

There once was a castle, guarded by Knights. The King and Queen were cruel and mean. But one day, a knight came into the castle, and decided that he wanted to rule the castle. He could've killed the King and queen. But he was cunning. He told the King and queen that he could enchant a sword so that the King and queen can never die. The flaw in his plan was that an old man that loathed the knight was watching. The old man knew the Knights plan. The knight told the King and Queen that he would put the enchantment on the most powerful sword that he could find. The old man saw the knight cleaning an old sword that was weak, and blunt. The knight sharpened the sword and enchanted it. But you cannot live forever with magic. So the knight enchanted it with a charm that would make it fatal to touch. When the knight resumed his position he left the sword in the middle of a meadow. The old man enchanted it so that only someone that was worthy of being immortal, could touch it. The next day a ceremony was held. The sword wasn't touched since the enchantment had been placed. So everyone was well. Until the King tried to lift the sword. He dropped dead. So the queen tried to touch it. She too fell dead. Finally the knight tried to touch it. He too died.

The Compeditors

In 1980 a competition was held. The one that was worthy of immortality would be able to hold it. Not many wanted to try. But the result would be highly rewarding. Three Compeditors stood in place. The first was wearing an old jumper and was wrinkly and old. The second was a bit younger, about in their 30's. They wore a tuxedo that was nothing like anything anyone else was wearing. The third was 18 and had long hair that touched the ground. He was a strange sight, with his Christmas jumper and shorts with reindeer on them. But the contestants were chatting along happily. An old man, much like the one in the tale watched them. He saw the competition Between them. They all wanted the power of immortality. Then white sparks flew into the air. The three lined up. The sword in front of them. They didn't notice the old man watching them. He looked concerned. The old man knew what was going to happen.

The Competition

The three contestants stood. The youngest and most irresponsible of all steeped forwards towards the sword. He held out his hand, he touched the sword and was dead. The second man stepped forwards, he held out his hand, then dropped dead at the touch of the sword. The eldest looked at the sword. Then he realised. He wasn't worthy of immortality. The man stepped backwards and walked from the sword. People looked at him with surprise. The old man thaw was watching them nodded his head in agreement with the mans choice.
