Chapter 1

It was the year 2518 when the strange object covered the sun and caused a series of strange phenomenons to occur world wide. This incident was known as "The Black Sun"

"It's a nice day, for Texas." Sora muttered in his monotone voice he's had since he was little

A lot has changed in the world since the development of new technology in the United Nations. Japan has become part of the U.S. which further increased the speed in which technology is invented, things such as holographic televisions, digital watches that is planted into everyone's skin once they hit the age of ten, and so much more. Academies were built all over for certain kids; mostly just the rich or smart.  And as for society, well seeing as how Japan sent half it's population to the U.S., a lot of people have Japanese mixed with American names because Japan wanted to keep it's culture with the names and so did America. So they decided if you are mixed, the first name is Japanese or American and the last name is the opposite of the first name. Now at least half  quarter of the U.S. is half Japanese and half American, and sad to say, I'm part of that half.

He muttered to himself as he walked to his academy that he just transferred to. "I'm glad I was accepted, but I hate these damn uniforms." He huffed under his breath. The uniforms consisted of a white long or short sleeve button up collared shirt, straight leg black pants, along with a gakuran, which is basically just a black button up jacket, along with sneakers and a black or white tie, he always wore a black one.

He reached the school at about 7:32 a.m. just in time for the sophomore ceremony.

"The auditorium huh?" He says looking around.

He found it and walked in to hear a woman speaking through a microphone.

"Well to late to find a seat." He muttered

"Welcome Sophomores of Seu Academy. We welcome all; Newcomers, students from last year, transfer students, and all!" The women standing at the pedestal said. "My name is Ms. Yoko and I am your sophomore principle as well as your counselor," she continued. "At Seu Academy we expect only the best of our students, I mean after all we are ranked number five in education." Everyone laughed at this.

'What the hell is so funny?' He thought to himself.

She let everyone quiet down before she continued.

"I want every last one of you to know this. We are a very serious Academy, we do not accept failure or tardiness." She stopped talking, smiled, then continued. "I see we already have one student that was almost late." She said looking in the very back of the auditorium.

Sora looked around knowing she meant him. He looked at her then pointed at himself.

"Oh, wait you mean me." He said, his empty voice echoed around the quiet auditorium and everyone laughed.

"Yes, you. Come here please. To the stage." He slowly made his way to the stage and stepped on it next to her. "Why don't you tell us your name." She grinned at him.

He looked around to see everyone trying to hold in a laugh.

"My name is Sora Sky." He mock saluted them all.

A few people giggled and others gasped. He turned around to see Ms. Yoko standing over him.

"Well Mr. Sky, may I ask a question?"

"Sure." He said, she grinned.

"Why is your hair white? I hope you didn't dye it cause that's not allowed since it's not a natural color."

"Huh," he put his hands on top of his head. "Oh, no it's natural see." He showed her his Birth Card which tells you the person's full name, natural hair color, eye color, height and so on. It's basically a birth certificate but it's safe to carry it around in public since it was holographic.

"Well would you look at that, it really is natural." She muttered and looked him up and down.

Sora was a normal kid, but didn't have much muscle, but was toned, and not very athletic looking. He had pure white hair that stopped at his temples and shortened in length right above his eyebrows, also white, and went all the way from side to side, his bangs near his temple were short but got longer near the middle of his forehead, then shortened after it reached his other eyebrow, looking the same as on the other side. His eyes were a dull gray. He's 5'4 and weighs about 121 pounds, his skin was pretty pale as well.

"Hmmm. You're a good looking man, I just hope you're as smart as I would think." She said, "everyone is dismissed. Go to your class now please" Everyone started heading to their classes. "As for you Mr. Sky, you transferred here from another school right? So you'll need to come to my office to get your schedule." She started walking and he followed.

"How'd you know I transferred from another school?" He asked but kept following her.

She simply smiled and replied,

"I tend to memorize most of my students." He didn't reply.

They arrived at the office and she handed him his schedule.

"Class 3-A." She said, "that's down two floors and down the hall." She said as she sat down.

"Thanks." He said and left the office.

As he was walking he looked at his wrist and put two fingers on it. Numbers appeared and told him it was 8:05. The numbers vanished and he continued his slow paced walk. He reached the stairs and headed down them. He hadn't noticed till now but the school was very nice and neat. The floors were a shiny white so clean you could see your reflection. The walls were also white and spotless of stains or signs of any kind of rotting. The ceiling consisted of black and white tiles that made a nice checkerboard design.

When he had finished looking around he had already gone down his two flights and was heading down the hall. He saw 1-A , 2-A, then there it was. 3-A. He scratched the back of his head.

"New school, new life." He says softly.

He reached to open the door but was beaten to it. Someone inside the class had already opened it. A pretty woman with bright blue eyes and dark hair. She was tan as well.

"Mr. Sky I assume?" She asked. He simply nodded. "Come on in." She said as he walked in he saw a name on the board. Mrs. Grey it read.

"Take a seat anywhere it's open." She said and turned around and started writing on the chalkboard.

Sora looked around for a spot that was open and took a seat in the very back near a window.

"Alright students," Mrs. Grey stared. "If you look at the board you can see that I wrote down club names that you can join." She smiled and continued. "We all push students to join clubs as it looks good on your college resume. So please, start thinking about joining one of these."

Sora looked around and saw the clubs; Track club, Swimming club, Theatre club, Drama club, Literature club. He stopped there. Mrs. Grey handed out papers to everyone.

"Please on this paper write down the club or clubs you want to join and write down a why you want to join that club and your personality and so on so forth." She said.

When she handed Sora his he immediately wrote the two he wanted to join; Swimming and Literature. He turned his paper over and after about fifteen minutes or so Mrs. Grey started picking them up.

"I hope all of you wrote down a club to join. That would make me happy and be good for your own benefit." She put the papers on her desk. "While I read over these why don't all of you try and get to know your classmates better."

Sora turned his head and looked out the window and twirled his mechanical pencil between his fingers quickly, over and over again.

He heard his classmates talking to each other about their summer break or people they like. The normal high school stuff. He was lost in thought when someone tapped on his shoulder, making him turn around to see a girl standing over him. She wore the girls uniform which was like a male uniform, but with a skirt and black leg socks, and she was wearing a white tie. She had full on pretty red hair and green eyes with a cute face, her skin was fair, the color of a person that gets out once in a while. She also had a very nice body, slim with nice curves and edges.

  "You're Sora, right?" She asked.

He nodded.

"Yeah I thought so, I saw you at the ceremony when you stepped on stage." Another girl interrupted who had black hair and the rare eye color of violet with a cute but mature face who had the same body and skin as the other girl, but unlike the red haired chick, her skin was slightly more tanned.

"That was you!" She said more than asked. "You're so disrespectful talking to our principle like that." She was interrupted by the red haired chick.

"Stop it please!" She said and turned to Sora. "I'm so sorry, please forgive my friend." She laughed embarrassingly. "Oh how rude, I haven't even told you my name. I'm Tairana, and she's Crystal." Crystal interrupted,

"I didn't want him to know my name." Tairana sighed and turned to Sora.

"But I got a peek at your club forms, you really want to join swimming?" She asked almost doubtful. Crystal chuckled, tried to hold in a laugh, then burst into tears.

"Swimming!? You!? HAHAHAHA! Please." Sora said nothing just gave a soft smile. "Why are you smiling?" Crystal asked, "I just insulted you."

"Oh I'm smiling? I didn't even know." He said looking out the window again.

Crystal huffed and Tairana interrupted before she could say anymore.

"I saw you also write down literature club." She smiled. "I wrote that as the only club I wanted to join."

"WAAAAH! He wrote down literature club!? AGH now I'll be stuck in there with him." Crystal complained, Sora just stared at her blankly.

"What are you staring at?" She asked. He just shrugged.

"Not very talkative are you." Tairana said more than asked.

"It's not that I'm not talkative it's more that I don't feel like talking." Sora replied. Crystal smiled.

"Ah, so you're lazy." Sora looked at her.

"I'm not lazy, I'm just conserving energy."

"Aw," Mrs. Grey started. "Only four people signed up for literature club, that's the club I sponsor." She looked over to Sora then Tairana then to Crystal. She then turned her head to this dark blonde haired chick. She was small in every way, short, her hair was pretty short as well, though a little longer than Tairana's, her skin was the same tint as Tiarana's as well.

"You four, the club is on the top floor at the end of the hall. The first club meeting is today, and as for you Mr. Sora, the swimming coach accepted your application." Everyone turned around and looked at him.

"He's not scrawny but not big either." Kids started talking, "do you think that he'll be good at it?" "I don't know but I know it's a hard sport." Sora sighed.

"Well look at that," Crystal started. "You actually made it in." She huffed. Tairana just stared at him with a smile and said,

"Swimming doesn't start till six months, so you'll be having fun with us in the literature club."  Mrs. Grey interrupted.

"For the rest of today just do whatever." She said.

The class did as they were told and started talking to each other. Tairana and Crystal were talking to each other in whispers. Sora was just reading his book he got the other day. It was called, "Alone?" The bell rang to dismiss for today to go home or go to your clubs. Sora looked at his left wrist and tapped it with two fingers and the time showed up again.

"3:30 already?" He muttered and put his book away in his bag and went to head out the club room.

"Hey Sora!" He turned around to see Tairana running at him.

"Watch out for the..." It was too late. Her foot caught the leg of a desk and she tripped, heading towards Sora. He stepped to the side, causing her to face plant.

"Ow! Why didn't you catch me?" She groaned getting up.

"I don't see the point in meaningless contact." He replied.

"Really?" She mumbled. He nodded, and started walking away. She ran to catch up to him after dusting herself off.

"Hey Sora," Tairana looked at him with a serious look.

"Yeah?" He turned his head to look at her.

"You're a reader right? So why is it you talk like that? Most readers have a vivid imagination which makes their personality kind and gentle. And on top of that, they usually have emotions, or at least emphasis to their voice, but you don't, I feel like you don't read cause you enjoy it, I feel like you read because it's an escape to you." He stared at her with an actual look of shock on his face but only for a second before it went blank again.

"Figure that out on your own? You're a bright girl." He said and looked away from her.

They reached the stairs at the end of the hall and he headed up them then started talking again.

"But you're right, yet wrong." He muttered.

"Huh?" Tairana asked confused.

Sora said nothing for a while before speaking.

"Let me put it like this, imagine a world where all the pain and fear can go away. Now imagine all that pain turns into nothing, not happiness just nothing. You forget about that pain because of that world, however, you only forget for so long before it comes back." He stopped on the flat part that leads to the second set of stairs. He turns towards her. "That's what reading is to me. A way to forget, if only for a moment."

Tairana stopped and just stood there, a sad look was on her face.

"Something happened to you didn't it?" She asked.

He ignored her and continued walking up the stairs.

"Come on, don't wanna be late on our first day." She followed him but the whole mood had changed.

They reached the room and he opened the door.

"Welcome Mr. Sky and Ms. Riku." Mrs. Grey said out of nowhere.

"Ah!" Tairana jumped.

Sora just blinked very slowly.

"Me and Ms. Mizu have been waiting for you two." Sora put his stuff down and sat at a chair.

"Sorry to keep you waiting." Tairana said apologeticlly.

Mrs. Grey smiled.

"Well an introduction to the club is needed. Here in the Literature club we do reading mostly. You really only need to read a couple pages a day and talk to each other about what you read so far, like a short summary." She stood up. "That's all." She said and walked out but before she closed the door another student walked in. Mrs. Grey just simply shut the doo after her.

"Well than," Crystal started. "I think we should all go around and introduce ourselves. I'm Crystal Mizu." She turned to Tairana. "You're turn." Tairana smiled.

"Okay. I'm Tairana Riku." Sora avoided eye contact.

"I think we all know who he is." Crystal said. They turned to the last girl, the one that was in there class.

She stood up and it was obvious to tell she was shy.

"I'm Rose Kasai."

"Ahh!" Tairana screamed, everyone looked at her.

"What?" Crystal asked but didn't really sound interested.

"Our names all translate to something!"

Sora muttered something under his breath that no one heard.

"Crystal Mizu means crystal water, Tairana Riku means flat land, Rose Kasai means rose fire, and," She giggled. "Sora Sky means sky sky," Sora just blinked slowly again and everyone started laughing, even the new girl.

  'Great....now I'm the laughing stock...'

They've been in school for two weeks now and everyday after school Sora and Tairana walk to the club together. They've been doing this since the beginning of school.

They walk into the club room and turn to see Crystal writing on a bored. She turns around and smiles at them.

"Welcome back guys. Alright when your name is called please reply. Tairana!"

"Here." She replied.

 "Rose."

She stood up with a smile "Here."

"Sora."

He twirled his pencil between his fingers. "Here..." He muttered.

"And I'm here." Crystal said.

They never do anything there supposed to. They never read like they're supposed to, they just talk to each other. And after two weeks, everyone has warmed up to each other and no one is shy anymore or embarrassed. Sora even talks a little more and cracks a joke now and then.

"Hey Sora, random question but if you could have any power in the world what would it be?" Tairana asked.

"Hmm..Any power huh? Invisibility." Tairana looked shocked.

 "Really? Why?"

He grinned. "So I could spy on girls getting dressed." He joked.

"Pervert!" Crystal shouted.

Tairana just froze and blushed deeply and fidgeted around embarrassingly. Rose laughed.

"No, I'm joking." He said.

Crystal interrupted. "Liar, you are a pervert and would want that." He simply ignored her but put a serious face on and everyone went quiet.

"Honestly, I don't know." He said. "I don't know what kind of power I would want. I don't think it would be a good thing, you'll be an outcast, not a real human anymore." He muttered.

Rose rolled her eyes and smiled. "I would want to be able to create things with my mind."

Crystal sighed. "I would want teleportation and telekinesis."

Tairana started laughing. "I would want the power to control time and read minds."

 Sora sighed softly.

All of a sudden, out of nowhere, it slowly started getting dark. They looked out the window to see a large object was getting in front of the sun.

"What's that? Rose asked, interested in it. "Something is blocking the sun."

"It's fine Rose, I think it's just an eclipse." Sora said, his voice muffled through the palm of his hand where his mouth was resting. Tairana tapped his shoulder and pointed at the sky.

"Sora, isn't that the moon right there." He looked where her finger was pointing and saw the moon in the day sky.

 "Sora, I'm scared." Rose whispered.

Crystal just stared, a look of horror on her face. Tairana started shaking.

"It's fine guys." He lied as the world was shrouded in darkness.
