Introduction

I'm the type of person who speaks the truth, no matter what. I have to call it like I see it; that's the way God built me. You know that old saying "Don't ask for the truth if you really don't want to hear it"? Ya'll steady asking my opinion, but ya'll aint ready.

Chapter 1

I'm sitting here quietly eating, minding my own business, taking in the hot ghetto mess called my family. I really don't want to be here but my parents asked me to come. You know what the Bible says about honoring your parents. I want to live as long as I can, so here I am.

I try my BEST to stay out of arguments and dumb conversations but they refuse to let me! Always drawing me in, asking know my opinion all the while forgetting that I know everything. EVERYTHING. If they ask me one more thing...

Okay, you know what? I've had enough!!! Can you please just stop? Ugh, you make me so sick. Absolutely sick! All this bickering, gossiping and insulting each other nearly makes me physically ill!

You're always complaining that Brenda is a worthless drunk and she's always pawning her kids off on other family members. Have you ever asked her WHY she drinks? She drinks because you're constantly insulting her!!! So what, she had a child before she graduated high school then dropped out? Did you ever tell her "I'm proud that you have your GED Brenda?" Or maybe you didn't notice she had it. You're always putting her down about the fathers of her children, the jobs she'd worked. Have you ever offered to help her find a better job? No! Have you ever offered to help her pay court fees to put these no good baby daddies on child support? No! You complain that she can't stay out of rehab but have you ever really tried to help her get sober and stay sober? No you haven't! You think she's out drinking when in reality she's working more part-time jobs than the law should allow just to make sure her kids have the basics they need. Have you ever thought about helping her? No. You keep asking my opinion but you shouldn't ask for the truth unless you're ready to hear it.

And Joel? Can you please stop the whispering and gossiping about him? If you want to know if he's HIV positive why don't you just ask him? He's sitting right there!! And for the record, he's not. You know how I know? I asked him. I went to him, cousin to cousin, and asked. It's really not that hard to communicate with family; ya'll should try it sometime. So what, he's gay! GET OVER IT! He's got a more stable relationship than some of you. Don't ask for the truth if you really don't want to hear it.

Shelia, you wonder how you got chlamydia? Ask your husband and your sister. Yeah, they're sleeping together. Only they know who gave it to who. Oh I know you don't like me and you know I don't care. We're family, I love you but somebody HAS to tell the truth around here. You keep dragging me into conversations and I keep telling you if you don't want to know the truth, don't ask!
