New Aqara vibration sensor is now available

About a couple of months ago we knew about the smart home devices that Aqara was going to present during the current year and since then we have been seeing some arrivals, including the new vibration sensor for the MiJia environment of Xiaomi.

The vibration sensor of Aqara is one of the novelties that will come to us during this year.

A sensor that until now we did not have and that some were missing to realize some intelligent scenes and that now they will be able to carry out thanks to their arrival.

Let's see what this new sensor offers us.

This sensor is designed as its name indicates to detect changes in some surface or element.

For example, you put it inside a vase and if some butler dares to touch it, we would get a warning to our smart phone, we could activate one of our cameras and obtain a video that would indicate to us that person of the "domestic service" of our mansion.

Another more common example could be to place it in an electric awning or blind and when detecting the vibration produced by an increase in the wind, launch a scene to collect that awning / blind.

In this sense, as all users of the MiJia environment will know, the possibility of creating intelligent scenes is practically infinite, although of course it also has its limitations.

Obviously all the management of Aqara motion sensor will be done from the Mi Home app, which is equally our great ally and enemy.

Another thing we must know is that we will need a Gateway - Aqara Hub - compatible with ZigBee devices, which is the technology used by this sensor to communicate with the app.

The power is obtained through a Lithium battery located in the back, which based on the experience I have with the rest of ZigBee devices that I have installed at home, will last about 3 years.

As a curious fact, theoretically one of the functions it can perform is to detect the quantity and quality of daily sleep.
