Just Poems
Introduction
Some Poems. Some serious, some funny and some just plain old poems.
Some took a long time to write, some just a few minutes but all heartfelt.
Well not all but most.
I hope you like them.
A Thousand Tears
I cry a thousand tears and some
As I hear the children cry
In the name of peace and someone’s God
I watch them as they die
I cry a thousand tears and some
As hunger sweeps the earth
We stockpile food in mountains
Then count how much it’s worth
I cry a thousand tears and some
At children’s bulging eyes
Hunger in their bellies
And Noses full of flies
I cry a thousand tears and some
As a mother rocks her child
The air is full of cordite
A young girl lays defiled
I cry a thousand tears and some
As one by one we fall
Muslims, Jews and Christians
All answering the call
I cry a thousand tears and some
When I hear the soldiers shout
Our God is the right God
Then we wipe each other out
It’s been this way forever now
For a hundred thousand years
It will be the same tomorrow
As we cry a thousand tears
Our Home Town
As the sun goers down over our home town
The sky burns rustic red
I look back on an amber track
And remember things you said
When you whispered low how you love me so
For me your soul you'd sell
Well your deceit turned up the heat
While the devil rots in hell
So here's to you your future too
May all your dreams fulfil
For my head aches with the work it takes
To think about you still
As you depart with my torn heart
The sun slips slowly down
Blood runs cold, life's on hold
As I wait in our hometown
