Chinatown, Singapore, a place where the modern combines with the old-world charm that the place still exudes. It is a hub for all things Chinese, and this extends to the shops and malls that you will find in the area. The futuristic tall buildings and the vintage shop houses, temples, markets, Chinese medicine houses, food and tea stalls, etc. exist side-by-side beautifully.  Most things here are made in China and while it is a delight to the eyes, Chinatown is also a delight to shopaholics. Our favorite spot to shop in Singapore Chinatown has to be the colorful markets that line the lanes near Chinatown MRT.  

Reaching Chinatown is a worry that will be slayed as soon as you book online tickets from redbus.sg to this place, well-connected through busways all across Singapore. This online portal helps you to choose from the array of buses at affordable prices.

The shops here tend to offer great value on Chinese items. The food is awesome here, won’t be short of snacks and along with plenty of places to rest if the bags get too heavy. Here are three reasons why every shopper loves Chinatown:

  1. Stand-alone boutiques selling some of the most precious and funky clothing and home furnishings are found in plenty here. The patchwork cushions found in Rose Citron French Design get a special mention.

  2. For a book lover, there is no better sight than a bookstore lit by the lights of all the times it houses. There’s the whole gamut here, from fiction to history via poetry, kids’ books and mathematic tomes. You could easily spend hours here, not only browsing the shelves

  3. Street food at its finest can be found in the many alleyways of the city. Chinatown Complex, in particular, boasts of some of the most mind boggling array of street food.

4. Sunday is a place to be at the China Square Central Flea Market. Stalls and sellers set up their shops early in the morning and although it is completely air conditioned and stationed inside a mall the variety of products that are on sale match the variety that you will find in any outdoor market. The place is also home to a lot of toys and comic book stores and on Sundays they have tables as well as stands outside their shops. You can also get hold of some beautiful antiques, which include great vintage China items, retro clocks and phones. If you are a book lover, there is also a second hand book section here. The market takes up about two entire floors. The shopping experience is complete fun and unique. The stall are open from 9:00 am until 6:00 pm only on Sundays.
