Chapter 1

The night breeze can be so beautiful when it wants to. The moon will show and shine on any one who wants to walk under it. The stars will grow brighter and make the night even more beautiful. That's what night time can do to other people.

The red numbers that flashed on the clock read 3:36 am. It was time for Harley's daily thing. She would stay awake until 3:30 every morning and go do her own thing to go to sleep faster.

The black haired girl stood from her bed and slowly walked up to the closed door. She turned around and looked at the clock again. She was 7 minutes late.

Slowly, Harley placed her hand onto the doorknob and silently twisted it so it can open up. She snuck out and tip toed to the restroom which was just a door down from her room. She walked in and once she closed the door along with locking it, she turned the light on.

She turned toward the mirror and cringed at her own reflection. She had tear stains on her face and she was just horrified with herself. She couldn't take it anymore so she opened the mirror and pulled out a small black box.

Inside the small black box was a pair of earrings. She put them by the sink and pulled out the small puff that was underneath the earrings.

Underneath the puff was a small shiny razor. She pulled it out and watched it gleam under the bathroom light. She smiled lightly and pulled it away from her face.

Harley pulled down her pants and sat down on the toilet lid with her underwear on still. She sighed and gently placed the blade against her already pale scarred skin. She quickly pulled it back and it made a deep cut.

She happily sighed and looked at the wound she made. It was deep and she could see the white skin underneath and it just brought her joy at how the blood will soon be seeping out. A minute later and she saw beads of blood poking out. Soon the blood was flowing free.

She continued to make several cuts making her thighs covered in blood. Once she was done cutting, she stood up and wet a paper towel. She looked down at her thighs and saw the blood running down her skin.

Without a second thought she quickly cleaned the wounds and pulled her pants back up after wrapping it up.

Before she could walk out of the restroom, she had to hide her razor. She cleaned off the blood and put it back in its rightful place. She turned the light off before opening the door and walked back into her bedroom.

After getting into her room, she closed the door silently and walked to her bed. She fell face first but quickly regretted it. She sat up in bed and tightly held onto her wounded thighs.

"The pain is worth it." She hissed to herself.

She fell back onto her bed and tried to go to sleep. She wanted to get some sleep before she looked tired when she goes to school tomorrow. Her friends always ask her why she always looks tired so she wanted to not look so tired.

※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※

"Good morning Koko." A dark brown haired man smiled.

"Morning daddy." Harley smiled brightly at her father.

Her dad continued to smile and turned back to his morning coffee. He took a sip of it and continued to read the newspaper that the newspaper boy left for them.

Harley walked to the kitchen counter and looked in the fruit bowl. She pulled out a red apple and took a bite out of it. She turned back to her dad and saw that he was still interested with the paper.

She walked past him after ruffling his hair. She smiled as she heard her dad give a chuckle. She walked back into her room to get dressed for the day.

Her dad loved his kids. He was always working but he still managed to come home just to see his family waiting for him. Well, most of them. He worked as a construction worker and he still managed to make a lot of money.

He loved Harley more though. Harley wasn't the youngest but she was still his favorite. He always kept an eye out of her and he even made sure she was happy. He would want to spoil her but she doesn't like it which makes her the favorite child to him.

Harley walked to her closet and pulled out some clothes. It was plain red tight fitting shirt with dark blue jeans and black combat boots. She always got her clothes from her sister, which really wasn't her thing but it was the only thing that would fit her.

She picked up the bag from the corner of her bed and walked out of her room. She closed it and smiled at her sister as she came out of her room.

Her sister, Hayley, was her twin sister. Hayley was just younger than Harley. They both had the same black mid length hair and blue eyes. Hayley loved being a girl more than Harley though.

Hayley just gave a small smile and looked away. Harley kept smiling until she passed Hayley. Once she knew she was a safe distance, her smile fell. She loved her brother and sister but it gets tiring after a while thinking that things were okay.

"Hey daddy." Harley skipped into the kitchen again.

"Koko!" He grinned.

"Have a good day at work!" Harley smiled cheerfully.

She jumped onto her dad and hugged him tightly. Her dad gave her the name "Koko" because he said that she's like a koala when she wants to.

He chuckled and hugged her back. After a minute of standing and hugging, they separated. They smiled at each other and Harley let go of her dad.

She waved at him again and walked out of the house. She smiled at her neighbor as he walked out to get the newspaper. Her neighbor waved and she continued walking to the bus stop.

Once she knew that no one was around or that they couldn't see her face, she frowned and slowly walked to the stop. She wasn't so happy as everyone thought she was. It was sometimes hard always showing others that she was happy when in reality she was really broken.

Harley never really liked her family but it was okay with her. She's been living with it for a while that she actually got use to it.

"Hey Harley!"

Harley turned and put on her expert fake smile. She saw one of her friends running up to her with her arm in the air waving at her.

Her friend, Melanie, was kind of an emo girl. Her hair was shoulder length and her bangs were combed to the right side of her face covering her right eye. She had some red highlights in her hair.

"Hey Mel." Harley smiled.

"So you ready to get today over with?" Mel grinned.

"That pep rally?" Harley giggled.

"Yeah," Melanie chuckled. "You think Marcus will make it funny like last year's?"

Harley laughed and nodded her head. Marcus was another one of Harley's friends. He isn't in any relationships because there's not much other gay guys around their school.

"Bus is here!" Melanie cried out.

Harley looked down the road and saw that the bus was coming. It stopped by them and they quickly got on since the other kids were coming up behind them.

Once they got on, it was almost empty with only 4 students sitting in separate seats. Harley and Melanie went to the far back and sat on the two seats that were available.

They watched as everyone that was behind them got on and the bus got packed. Most of the seats that were empty were now full of other kids.

"I'm going to take a nap." Harley smiled at her friend.

Melanie agreed and leaned into her seat to take a nap as well. Harley looked out the window after putting her earphones into her ear.

Every day I try to see

The closeness that you

Promised me,

Fades away,

It fades away ~

After listening to her song, Harley was getting moved. She slowly opened her eyes and looked around to see who was disrupting her sleep.

"Hey Harley," Melanie pulls one of Harley's earphone out of her ear. "We're here."

Harley groaned and looked out the window to see that they were at the school. She looked over the seat and saw that everyone was getting off their seats to exit the bus.

"Thanks for waking me up." Harley smiled softly.

Melanie smiled at her and nodded her head. They got up and left the bus just like everyone else. Once they got off they heard someone scream.

"Mel! Harley!"

They turned and saw their good gay friend, Marcus running after them. He got closer and jumped on them, hugging them, nearly killing them.

"Hey Mark!" Melanie grinned.

"I missed you guys!" Marcus laughed.

"It was just the weekend!" Harley giggled.

Marcus also laughed and he let them go. They looked at each other for a few more seconds and they looked toward the entrance of the school.

"Let's get this pep rally started!" Marcus happily exclaimed.

Melanie and Harley both laughed at the same time. They started to follow Marcus, who was running straight for the doors.

"Can you believe that after today we're going to have spring break?" Melanie turned to her friend and grinned brightly.

"Yeah I'm so glad about that!" Harley smiled.

Harley couldn't wait for Spring Break. It was the 2 weeks she's been waiting for since the beginning of the month. She was going to be free to sleep in for as long as she wants. She could finally catch up on the sleep she's been missing.

"It's going to be awesome!" Melanie threw her hands up into the air. "I can sleep in and have a party on the internet!"

"You and the internet Mel." Harley giggled.

"My life revolves around internet!" Melanie grinned. "I'm so awesome that I like looking up random things which turn out to be-"

"Awesome songs and pictures." Harley finished. "Yeah you tell me every time you show me a new song."

Melanie laughed and nodded her head. They continued to have a conversation about internet and also tried to look for Marcus who probably found a seat in the gym.

Once they got into the gym, they started to keep an eye out for Marcus. After looking around for two minutes, they finally saw Marcus waving to them from the top of the bleachers.

"Look there he is." Melanie pointed out.

Harley turned her head in the direction and saw he had a huge grin on his face. She smiled and they walked up to him seeing that he had two empty spaces next to him.

Melanie took the seat on his left side while Harley took his right side. It was crowded in the gym and it was really loud. There were other students who kept talking and others who were left alone.

"Hey Harley!" Melanie leaned forward to look at her friend.

Harley leaned forward as well and looked at Melanie who had a small smile playing on her lips. She smiled and let Melanie continue with what she was going to say.

"Did you know that Jacob dropped out?" Melanie grinned.

"Really?" Harley gaped. "I didn't even know that."

"Wasn't he your sister's boyfriend?" Marcus spoke up looking at Harley.

"Yeah." Harley sighed and leaned back against the wall. "But she dumped him because she heard of a bad boy."

"Bad boy?" Melanie stood. "There's a second bad boy?"

"Second?" Harley and Marcus both asked at the same time.

"Well Hayley can't deal with Jayden!" Melanie shrugged. "There's probably a second bad boy that caught Hayley's attention."

"Yeah that's true." Marcus nodded his head. "No one sees Jayden around a lot anyways."

"Jayden?" Harley question.

"Oh right I forgot." Melanie snapped her fingers. "You don't know Jayden that well."

"Obviously." Harley laughed.

Marcus joined in with the laughter and soon Melanie was laughing. Laughter was contagious and it could be dangerous at times.

"Well," Melanie pushes Marcus aside so she can sit next to Harley. "Jayden is a really, really bad boy. He plays by his own rules and those rules are basically living on the wild side."

"Wild side?" Harley raised a brow.

"Yeah." Marcus perked in. "I heard that he blew up a building because it was not in his taste! He can get rid of what he wants and yet he's still walking the streets as-"

"A free man." Melanie finished.

Harley stared at her friends and before she could get a word out of her mouth, she was stopped when the microphone made a sound.

"Is this working?" the principle spoke into it.

Everyone in the gym got quiet and stared at him. He noticed and smiled his famous charming smile that made female teachers fall to their knees.

"Good morning students!" He grinned.

The whole gym greeted him but a little did it half ass. They were too tired to even get a word out of their mouths.

The principle soon started to talk about things like the sports and how everyone was doing in school which was bad. It seemed the most students were failing classes which is really bad for the school and its staff.

Before the principle could get another word out of his mouth, there was an explosion. Everyone in the gym started to panic. The girls screamed and some guys started to laugh at how "awesome" that was.

"Everyone!" the principle shouted into the microphone. "Go to the nearest exit and leave in an orderly fashion way!"

The students started to jumped off their seats and took off out of the building. Some were pushing because they didn't want to die in the school.

Who wants to die in a school?

"Come on Harley!" Melanie screamed.

Melanie and Marcus were already down the bleachers while Harley was still at the seat. She had left her bag and her bag had her laptop which contained all of her important documents.

Once Harley got her bag, she tried to run down the bleachers but her laces got caught around the metal bars in the middle of the walk way.

"Help!" She cried.

She looked around and noticed that her friends were no longer inside the building. Everyone else had left as well so she was all alone. She was going to die alone and scared.

Harley pulled her bag to her chest and held it tightly. She wanted to cry. Her depression was acting up at a really bad time but for some reason, she was okay with it.

Maybe now she won't have to deal with always faking her happiness. She can finally die and be free from her body which was hurting every day.

Her laptop contained her stories. She loved writing stories so she was hoping that if one of them got published, maybe she could help her family. Mainly her dad. She loved her dad.

The smoke from the explosion was starting to get to her and she started to cough rapidly. She looked at her laces and sighed. It looked like it was really stuck and even if it wasn't she didn't want to leave.

Harley sat down and held onto her laptop one more time. She wanted to know that she died with her stories her in her arms.

"Hey come on!"

Harley gasped and looked up. She could see a manly figure leaning over her but she soon started to cough again.

"You're stuck." the guy pointed out.

Harley wanted to say something back but she just started to cough again. She watched as the guy leaned toward her and cut her laces with a pocket knife.

Before she could process some things, she was being lifted. She looked around and noticed that the guy who cut her laces was carrying her out of the building.

Once they got out of the building, people started to run toward him, helping him with Harley. Once a paramedic took Harley she turned around to look at her hero.

He had bleach blonde hair and blue eyes. He looked handsome and had a good looking body. Harley was placed onto a stretcher and put in the back of the ride. She looked around her before the doors closed.

Before she knew it, she was knocked out. The last thing she saw which was unusual was a dirty blonde haired guy looking at her with a weird expression.

※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※※

"Koko!"

Harley groaned and moved her head to the side. She slowly opened her eyes but quickly shut it when the light was too bright for her.

"Koko are you alright?"

Koko? That's right, her dad is the only one who calls her by that name. She turned her head in the direction she heard his voice and slowly opened her eyes.

"Daddy?" She moaned.

Her dad gave her a smile and she noticed that he had some tears. She felt guilty for making her father worry about her like this.

"Are you okay?" he asks.

"Yeah, I'm okay." Harley groaned lightly. "But I am thirsty."

"Oh!" her father gasped. "Here, drink this."

Harley turned her head back to her dad and saw that he was pouring a glass of water from a pitcher that was on the stand by her bed. He gave it to her and she leaned up in the bed so that she was now sitting up.

"Thanks daddy." Harley smiled sweetly.

"Of course Koko." he smiled back at her.

Harley drank the water and she just felt satisfied with how the liquid moistened her dry throat. It was so refreshing but she did wish she had something with a taste in it.

"What happened?" Harley asked after finishing her cup of water.

"An explosion happened at school during the pep rally." her dad began to explain. "You were stuck in the burning building but a guy saved you."

"Who was the guy?" Harley groaned.

"One of your classmates I think." her dad looked out the window.

"Do you know who caused the explosion?" Harley examined her father.

Her dad shook his head and continued to stare out the window. His eyes had a kind of distant look like he was in another world.

"Are you okay dad?" Harley asked.

He jumped and turned to his daughter. He smiled and shook his head. Harley continued to look at him with a confused expression but soon decided to leave it.

"Someone is here to see you Harley." a nurse came in with a soft smile.

Harley and her father turned toward her to see who it was that was visiting Harley. They saw a guy walk in and Harley stared at him for a few seconds.

"You're the one who saved me!" Harley gasped.

She remembered that bleach blonde hair and those blue eyes. She continued to stare at him and noticed that he looked really handsome. So handsome that she didn't know if he was human.

"Hello Harley." the guy waved.

"What's your name young man?" Harley's father examined him.

"It's Austin Norman sir." Austin bowed.

"Thank you for saving my daughter Austin." Harley's dad stood and shook Austin's hand.

Austin bowed again and watched as Harley's father walked out. Before he walked out he told them that he was hungry so he left them alone.

"Hey Harley." Austin greeted again.

"Hi, Austin." Harley mumbled. "Thanks for saving me."

"No problem." Austin smiled.

Harley looked around the room and didn't know what else to say. She looked at Austin and noticed that he was doing the same.

"Do you know what caused the explosion?" Harley asked.

Austin stopped looking around and looked at her. He stayed quiet for a few seconds and finally, he nodded his head.

"Really?" Harley leaned forward. "What?"

"Not what." Austin shook his head. "Who."

"Well who?" Harley continued to lean forward.

"Jayden Campbell." Austin looked deep into Harley's eyes.

Jayden Campbell. That name rung in Harley's ears. She heard that name before but she can't really place a face on it.

Then all of a sudden she remembered that her two friends were talking about him before the explosion happened. They said that he was a bad boy and all that.

"Where is he?" Harley asked.

"They took him in for questioning." Austin shrugged. "That idiot."

Austin mumbled the last part so Harley couldn't actually hear what he said. She shrugged it off not really interested in what he had to say about him.

"How do you know Jayden?" Harley blurted out.

Austin stopped staring off into space and looked at her. He stared at her for a couple of seconds and gave a small smile.

"I'm friends with him." Austin answered. "His best friend."

Harley stared at him in complete shock. She didn't think that the bad boy could have a friend. It just really surprised her. But she didn't know that much about Jayden anyways. She barely heard of him that day.

"I didn't know that." Harley mumbled silently hoping he couldn't hear her.

"Yup," Austin grinned, showing that he heard her clearly. "It's weird I know but I'm okay with it."

Harley looked back at him and they both stayed silent, not bothering to try and talk. If they did, they were afraid it was going to be more awkward.

"Koko," Harley's dad came walking in. "Are you okay?"

"Yes daddy." Harley smiled at him.

"Okay," her dad smiled back. "I was just checking on you."

Her dad walked back out of the room and it continued to be silent again. There was really nothing to say to each other anymore.

"Hey Harley." Austin spoke up. "Can I ask you something?"

Harley stopped thinking and looked up at him. He was looking out the window and after a minute, he turned his head to look at her.

"Sure." Harley smiled slightly.

She still didn't want anyone to see her true colors even after she almost got killed. Well she was actually just sitting there, not bothering to try and get out.

"Why were you just sitting down?" Austin asked.

"What do you mean?" Harley tilted her head to the side.

"In the gym." Austin finally looked in her eyes. "It was like you weren't even trying to free yourself. It looked like you were waiting for Death to take you."

Harley's eyes widened and she quickly looked away. She wanted to say something to make it look like she wasn't waiting for Death -which she really was- but nothing came to mind.

"You must be mistaken." Harley whispered.

"What?" Austin leaned forward.

"I couldn't stand." Harley looked at him. "The smoke was getting to me and I was getting weak so I had to sit down."

Austin frowned and continued to look at her. He didn't know if she was lying or not. Yeah there was a lot of smoke but could she be telling the truth? He didn't get weak when he was in there.

"I honestly didn't think that someone was going to save me." Harley smiled lightly. "Thank you Austin."

Austin looked at her smile and knew that she must be telling the truth. Even her eyes were saying the same thing. She was a girl and girls are more delicate than boys so maybe that's why Harley got weak faster than him.

"Okay," Austin turned away. "I thought you were wanting to get killed."

Harley giggled and shook her head. She really did want to die but she can't let other people see that side of her. Even when they're friends with Jayden, the bad boy.

"How did you become friends with Jayden?" Harley couldn't help but ask.

Austin looked at her and stared at her for a few seconds. He chuckled and shook his head just thinking about how he became friends with a bad boy. He was a bad boy himself.

"Well I met him when I was new here." Austin grinned. "The idiot got in trouble and was sent to the office where I was trying to get my schedule."

"Really?" Harley smiled.

"Yeah," Austin chuckled. "He looked at me and glared. At first I didn't know who he was so I glared back at him. He kept glaring at me but after awhile he laughed and said he liked me. So we became friends right away."

Harley giggled at the story. She didn't know who Jayden was that much. She was somewhat new but she already learned everyone's name in school.

"Koko," Harley's dad entered. "The nurse said that you should get some rest."

"Okay daddy." Harley smiled.

Austin looked at him as well and bowed slightly. He turned back to Harley and saw that she was trying to get herself comfortable on the bed for some rest.

"Well," Austin smiled. "It was nice talking to you Harley."

"You too." Harley smiled back. "and thank you again for saving my life."

Austin bowed his head and started to walk for the door. He gave her dad a bow again and walked out after saying bye to him.

"Who was that young boy Koko?" Her dad sat on the chair next to her bed.

"You already know him." Harley giggled.

"I mean," her dad blushed. "What is he to you?"

"I barley just met him." Harley shrugged. "But he said he's friends with Jayden. That's about all I know of him."

"Who's Jayden?" Harley's dad questioned.

Harley thought about it for a moment. Should she tell him the truth that Jayden is the school's, no scratch that, the town's bad boy? Best not to.

"Just a popular guy at school." Harley smiled.

She didn't want to lie to her dad but she also didn't want to get him worried that one of the bad boy's friend saved her. It would scare him into having a heart attack.

Her dad nodded his head and soon left her alone for her to get some rest. He really loved his daughter that he left work early to check if she was okay.

Harley moved onto her side and looked at the machines that had the IV's in her arm. She stared at it just thinking.

"Why was Austin in the building?" Harley asked, curious.

She frowned at the question. What was he doing there? Did he just happen to see that she was stuck to the bleachers? Did he know she was stuck? Was he there when the building caught on fire from that explosion?

She didn't know but she decided to ignore it. The important thing is that he saved her -even though she was hoping to die.

Before she could actually go to sleep, she turned in her bed that made her sit up. She looked at the chair in front of her against the wall. Her bag was sitting on it.

It was so far and yet not that much. She pulled the sheets off of her and she walked over to the chair to get her bag. Once she picked it up, she noticed that it wasn't heavy like it was in the gym.

Harley quickly started to dig around in the bag hoping to find her laptop. With no hope of it being in there, she knew someone took it. She got terrified at the thought.

"Where is it?" She screamed.

Chapter 2

"Oh my god Harley are you okay?" Melanie came running into the room.

Harley turned over in the bed and saw her two friends walking in. She smiled and sat up, leaning her back against the wall.

"Yeah I'm okay." Harley smiled.

"When can you leave?" Marcus asks, with worry in his eyes.

"I can leave later." Harley grinned. "They just need to check up on me one more time and I can finally go home to start my Spring Break."

"You crazy!" Melanie almost screamed. "You almost died yesterday and here you are smiling as if nothing happened!"

Harley giggled at her friend and they soon started having a normal conversation on what they were each going to do for their Spring Break.

"You already know what I'm going to do!" Melanie proudly exclaimed.

"Yeah being a geek." Marcus laughed.

Melanie quickly gasped and slapped his shoulder making him stop his laughter. He complained that she hit him too hard and it was uncalled for.

"Who cares?" Melanie huffed.

"Well," Marcus grinned at Harley. "I'm going to London to visit my mom's side."

"Damn I want to go!" Melanie whined.

"Really?" Harley and Marcus asked in unison.

"Of course not!" Melanie glared. "I'm staying where internet is and I'm never leaving for anything!"

"Of course." Marcus sighed.

The three friends continued their chat until the doctor came in and looked over Harley once more before letting her leave. She got out of bed and frowned.

Her friends were waiting in the waiting room so she was free to be sad. After finding out that her laptop was missing she screamed.

Some nurses came running in and of course they were worried but saw that she was looking for her laptop somewhere in the room. Her dad came running in as well and noticed the situation.

They tried helping her find it but there was no luck. Harley had lost her laptop that was full of important things that will change her and her family's life.

"Where could it have gone?" Harley asked herself.

She took the empty bag off the chair and walked out into the hallway. She was grateful that they didn't change her clothes because she still had some fresh cuts on her thighs.

Once she got into the waiting room she saw her two friends chatting with a guy. She knew that bleach blonde hair anywhere. The guy turned toward her and she saw blue eyes. Now there was no mistake that that was Austin.

"Hey Harley!" Austin grinned.

"Hey Austin." Harley threw on her fake smile. "What are you doing here?"

"Well I wanted to make sure you were okay." Austin smiled.

Harley saw Melanie visibly melting at the sight. Melanie was a sucker for love. She even wanted Harley to have a boyfriend but Harley always said no.

"Yeah I'm fine." Harley smiled.

"That's good." Austin grinned. "Do you need a ride home?"

"Oh," Harley slightly gasped. "No that's okay. I was going to go with my friends."

"Actually Harley!" Melanie perked in. "My sister said she needed some help at the house so I'm going to go and Marcus is coming along since he's a man."

Harley tried not to have her mouth hang open. Her friend was just about to ditch her just so she could be alone with a guy. Melanie was not as secretive as she thought she was.

"Alright," Harley sighed. "Yeah I guess I need a ride."

Austin grinned and gladly followed Harley out into the parking lot. She looked around and saw that he was walking to a black car. It looked like a racer's car!

"This is your car?" Harley gaped at the sight.

"Yup." Austin grinned. "Telling you now, my friend is joining us."

Harley nodded her head and got into the front seat. There was no one in the front so she took it. She placed her empty bag in the back and noticed a guy sitting in the middle.

She stared at him, not really trying to look at something else. He was looking through some papers, like he was reading it.

After what seemed like hours -which was actually a few seconds- the guy looked up from the papers and looked at her in the eyes.

Harley's breath got caught in her throat. She looked at his green eyes and she couldn't help but notice that it matched his dirty blonde hair well.

"Harley," Austin entered the car in the driver's side. "This is my friend, Jayden."

Harley turned away from Jayden and looked at Austin like he was joking to see her reaction. When she saw that he was serious she wanted to die.

Jayden was the one who made her almost die -which she made a mental note to thank him later on- and he was the last person she saw before she blacked out.

She knew it was him because she could remember his hair. Not a lot of students had that color hair and Austin also had different hair color.

"Hello Harley." Jayden extended his hand to her.

Harley slightly jumped and looked back at him. She looked at his hand and cautiously took it into her own which was pale compared to his tanned one.

She felt an electric feeling go through her body just from that one contact. It was intense and she felt like her heart was going to go through the roof of the car.

"Hello," Harley paused. "Jayden."

Jayden bowed his head and looked back at the papers. She wanted to look at what he was reading but decided against it.

She turned back in her seat so she's facing the front and decided to ignore him. If he can make her feel somehow really bad by just a hand shake, then that's bad.

"So are you hungry Harley?" Austin asked.

"Oh no." Harley smiled and shook her head.

Before Austin could start driving toward her house, Jayden popped in between them. They looked at him and saw that he was looking at Harley.

"She's hungry." Jayden answered in a bored tone.

"Dude," Austin spoke up. "She said she wasn't."

Before Austin could turn, there was a silence and that silence came with a growl. He stopped and parked the car where it was. He slowly looked at Harley and saw a pink shade crawling on her face.

"Harley?" Harley slowly looked at Austin. "Are you hungry?"

Once again, before Harley could answer, her stomach answered for her. She quickly covered her mouth and turned toward the window.

"Let's go to McDonalds." Jayden leaned back into the back seat. "I'm pretty hungry too."

"McDonalds it is." Austin backed up a bit and started driving the other way they were going to go.

"Where's your dad Harley?" Austin asked.

"He's at work." Harley smiled. "I didn't want him to leave work again so I told him that Melanie was going to take me. But I guess her plans got messed up."

Harley giggled a little. She needed to keep her fake happiness up at least until she was safe from them and she could rest her face.

It could get tiring just trying to keep a smile up when she wasn't really happy. She just needs to go into the restroom once they get to McDonalds and let her face rest.

"I don't understand how you could be hungry Jay!" Austin yawned. "We ate this morning."

"Well that was a few hours ago." Harley spoke up for Jayden.

"Yeah," Jayden turned his head to look out the window. "A few hours ago."

"He ate almost the entire buffet." Austin sighed heavily. "I had to pay for it which was not a pretty bill."

Harley giggled at how the two friends were with each other. One was completely oblivious of his actions while the other is always looking after him like he's a child.

While Harley and Austin started to have a conversation about school -seems that Austin goes to her school- Jayden was still in the back looking through papers. Some times he would sneak a glance at them and sigh heavily but also inaudible so they couldn't hear.

After a few minutes, they finally got to McDonalds. They walked in and before Austin could ask what Harley wanted, she was already going for the restroom.

The moment she was going to get into the restroom, she felt a hand wrap around her arm and she was pulled away from the door.

"Hey!" Harley started to protest. "Let me go! I need to use the restroom!"

"Not until you order." Jayden answered.

"But I really need to go!" Harley continued to protest.

"Oh hey you're back!" Austin grinned.

"He dragged me back here." Harley mumbled and looked at the menu.

She really wasn't hungry but her stomach was going against her at the moment. Her stomach never went against her wishes before. Why now?

"I'll get a cheeseburger." Harley began to walk back to the restroom until she was stopped.

"What size drink? Any thing specific you want on and off your burger?" Jayden asked.

Harley wanted to turn around and punch the guy in the face but if she did than she would be seen as the most violent person. She's known to be sweet and kind so she couldn't ruin that picture with her anger blocking her view.

Plus Jayden is the bad boy that made an explosion at school so what makes her think he wouldn't hit a girl? He probably hits girls when he wants to.

"I want a medium and no pickles." Harley smiled at the lady behind the counter.

The lady nodded quickly and put it down. Once she was done, she looked back at Austin and Jayden as they were still looking at the menu. She had that look in her eyes that said she was in love.

Harley shook her head at that thought and continued to go back to the restroom since Jayden looked too busy to notice.

Once she got into the restroom, she sighed heavily and noticed that no other girl was in there. She was happy about that. She let her face relax and she stared at herself in the mirror. She looked like she was broken -which she really was- but why did she feel like she wasn't?

Harley couldn't cut last night because she was in a hospital and if any of the nurses or doctors saw, they would make her stay longer. They would even inform her father and she does not want her father to know.

She leaned her back against the door and slowly started to slide down to the floor. She was exhausted and all she wanted to do was sleep. If only her stomach didn't make any sounds, maybe she'd be in bed sleeping right now.

After a few more minutes, she got up from the floor and was surprised that no other girl needed to use the restroom. Not one person knocked on the door.

Harley walked out of the restroom and saw the two boys sitting in a booth by the window. She put on her fake smile and walked up to them.

"You really needed to go huh?" Austin laughed.

"Well I am a girl." Harley giggled. "I needed to do other things as well."

"You should've seen it Harley!" Austin grinned. "Jayden wouldn't let a single girl go in there because he knew you were in there!"

Harley stopped smiling and tilted her head with confusion written all over her face. Did she hear Austin right or was she hearing things now?

She looked at Jayden who was by her side and saw he was looking out the window, eating nuggets. He was lost in his own thoughts that he didn't even hear what Austin said. He didn't even notice that Harley was standing there by him.

"Look," Austin whispered. "Hide behind me and watch that lady."

Harley went behind Austin and watched as a girl -college maybe- walk toward the door. Before she could place her hand on the door knob, Jayden was already in front of her.

"Excuse me." the girl blushed. "I need to use the restroom."

"I'm sorry." Jayden bowed. "But a friend on mine is in there and I don't want people to disrupt her."

"Shouldn't there be another stall in there?" the lady asked.

"There's only one toilet." Jayden answered. "You can understand can't you? You're a girl aren't you?"

Jayden tilted the girl's chin up and looked into her eyes. The girl couldn't help but fall for him. She didn't know how old he was but she was hoping he was the same age as her, maybe a year older.

The girl quickly nodded once Jayden let her go. She quickly took off out of the building, not looking back for anything.

"See what I mean?" Austin laughed.

Harley looked and noticed that Jayden was looking at the girl's restroom door. He probably didn't know she wasn't in there any more. He placed a hand on the door and walked away back to his seat.

"Stay hidden first." Austin whispered and grinned at Jayden. "Dude, another one?"

"Girls disgust me." Jayden plainly answered.

"Well why are you protecting that door like your life depends on it!" Austin laughed.

Harley was sitting on the floor behind Austin. She was listening to their conversation and couldn't help but hate Jayden.

"I'm protecting Harley because her life depends on it." Jayden looked out the window.

"Huh?" Austin couldn't help but get confused.

Harley placed a hand over her mouth so no one can hear her gasp. What was Jayden trying to say? Did he know that she wanted to be alone?

"Just leave it." Jayden shook his head. "Don't say anything to her about this."

"Okay!" Austin went back to grinning.

So Jayden still doesn't know that Harley heard and saw all of that. Jayden looked back out the window and zoned out.

"Act like you came out of the restroom." Austin whispered. "Hurry before some girl comes by the door again."

Harley quickly sneaked toward the restroom door and noticed that there was some girls walking to the door. Before she could smile and say excuse me, they pushed her to the side.

"Move out of the way!" the girl spat. "Look girls."

They all turned their heads and sighed dreamily. Harley also noticed and looked in the same direction to see Jayden walking over to them.

The girl pushed Harley too hard that she actually fell to the ground. Harley looked up and saw Jayden reaching for her hand. She slowly placed her hand into his and he pulled her up.

"Harley are you okay?" Austin came running over. "We saw what happened."

Jayden let Austin take Harley back to the booth. Harley stopped and so did Austin. They turned and watched as Jayden looked at the girls who pushed her.

Harley noticed that the girl who pushed her was the same college girl that was there just a few minutes ago. She was going to say something but she noticed that the college girl didn't care at all that she fell on the ground when she pushed her.

"Hi!" the college girl smiled sweetly.

Jayden kept a straight face and continued to look at the girls. They were all admiring how he looks, which he was use to.

"Why did you push my friend?" Jayden asked calmly.

"Who that little slut?" one of the girls pointed an accusing finger at Harley.

"Yeah." another girl spat. "She's already getting held by another guy."

"But he is hot!" a girl sighed dreamily.

Jayden continued to listen to their words. Austin held onto Harley but Harley really wanted to step away from him after what those girls called her.

"What's your name?" the girl asked.

"What's your name?" Jayden asked.

"My name is Cindy!" Cindy bounced happily.

She was clearly happy that he was ignoring Harley for her and her posse. She didn't give a damn about Harley. All she wanted was to have Jayden's attention.

"My name is Jackie!" a girl cried.

"Jenny!" another cried.

"Martha!" the last one happily grinned.

"Well ladies." Jayden bowed. "I want you to apologize to Harley."

"Who's Harley?" Cindy asked.

Austin loosened his grip on Harley's shoulder and let her take her step away from him. She looked and watched as the girls continued to ask who she was.

"I think she's the slut." Jackie growled.

"Oh her?" Cindy asked and saw Jayden nod. "Why should we? She was in our way."

Before Austin could jump at them, Harley took off outside. She was never once called something so negative. She was always known as the sweet innocent girl.

"Harley!" Austin was about to run after her until he was stopped by a hand.

"Let her get some air." Jayden looked at where Harley ran out.

"See?" Jenny smirked. "She knew she was a slut so she took off. Bet you two didn't know that."

"I really want to punch them in there faces." Austin thought angrily.

Before any of the girls could continue with their conversation with the two boys, Jayden turned and left them. Austin watched as he walked out of the building after getting Harley's burger.

"Hey where are you going?" Martha cried.

"Don't worry ladies." Cindy grinned. "We still have the other one here with us."

The girls all agreed and they soon tried to talk to Austin. He groaned and turned away from them. He got his and Jayden's food before actually leaving the building.

He ignored the girls' cries for him to come back and walked to find Harley and Jayden. He looked toward the car and saw Harley sitting in the driver seat. Jayden was crouching on the ground by her side since the door was open.

"What's up?" Austin asked while getting near them.

"I'm tired." Harley smiled. "I just want to go home."

"You sure?" Austin sadly asked.

He didn't want those words to bother her. He wanted her to stay with them for a little while longer but those girls had to ruin it.

"Yeah." Jayden stood. "Let's take her home."

Austin looked at him and noticed that he was looking at the entrance on McDonalds. He also turned and saw the girls about to go up to them to continue their conversation.

"Yeah alright." Austin gave Jayden his nuggets.

They got in the car and left before the girls could say anything to them. Harley noticed that the girls had their phones out which meant they were probably about to take pictures of them.

The whole ride to her house was silent. She was actually tired. She was always tired and all she wanted to do was sleep. She was glad she could finally sleep once she gets home.

"Thank you, you guys." Harley got out and smiled through the open window.

"No problem." Austin smiled back.

"Harley." Jayden opened the back window.

Harley looked at him with a confused expression. Couldn't he just sit in the front now that she was at her house? She wanted to ask but she decided against it.

"Yeah?" She went to the back window.

"Here." Jayden passed her burger to her through the window. "You forgot this back at McDonalds."

"Oh thanks." Harley smiled and gladly took the burger.

Jayden nodded his head and closed his window once she started walking back to her house. She was so exhausted that she could sleep on the concrete all day.

Once she got inside, she looked out the window and saw that they were barley leaving. Were they waiting for her to get inside?

"Well that was nice of them." Harley smiled slightly.

She turned around and saw her sister looking at her. Before Harley could say anything, Hayley was already in her face.

"Who was that?" Hayley growled.

"Just some friends." Harley smiled. "They brought me home from the hospital."

"That was Jayden and Austin wasn't it?" Hayley growled.

"Yeah." Harley continued to smile.

"I hate you." Hayley spat and walked off upstairs to her room.

Once Harley knew that Hayley was gone, her smile fell. She knew her sister hated her but it was still hard to accept it.

"I'm fine," Harley whispered. "Thanks for asking."

Harley walked up to her room as well and before she could open the door, she heard a door get slammed. She turned and saw her brother coming out of the room.

His black bed hair was messy and it looked greasy. His brown eyes looked exhausted but also blood shot at the same time. He looked at Harley and he grinned.

"Hey Harley!" Tristen waved. "What are you doing?"

"Hey Tristen." Harley smiled. "I just got back from the hospital."

"Oh no!" Tristen gasped. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah." Harley giggled. "I'm alright."

"Good!" Tristen grinned again. "Because who's going to buy my weed?"

Harley smiled and watched as he walked downstairs to the kitchen. Once he was gone, her smile fell back down into a frown. Yup, her brother was a drug addict.

"That's all I'm good for around here." Harley whispered as she entered her room. "At least he asked if I was okay. That has to count for something right?"

Harley fell on her bed. She thought she was going to pass out right away but she couldn't seem to close her eyes. She looked around her room trying her best to make herself tired.

She turned over in her bed and remembered the burger Austin and Jayden got her. She got off her bed and took it into her hands. She examined it for a few minutes and finally decided to eat it.

She unwrapped it and started to eat it. She was really hungry, she should've gotten two of them or at least nuggets like Jayden.

Jayden. That name jumped around in her head for a few minutes while she was eating. She didn't know why she felt strong feelings toward him, but she knew she could never be with him.

The reason? Well it was simple: she was suicidal and he was a bad boy. That won't match at all so she decided to push her feeling for him away.

After finishing her burger she looked around the room for something to do. She wanted to type her stories again but she lost her laptop which sucked.

At least she put a password on it. But she still wanted her laptop. She missed it a lot and it was killing her from the inside.

"I can probably write it on paper again." Harley suggested to herself.

She went over to her desk and pulled out some paper. She pulled out a black Sharpie pen and began to brainstorm on what to write. She thought about it for a few minutes and decided to write about a lost girl -such as herself.

She jotted down some notes on the story and she soon started to write the story. While she was writing her story, she heard her door open.

Quickly, Harley threw her paper and pen into the open drawer by her legs. She turned and saw her dad eyeing her suspiciously.

"What was that Koko?" He asked.

"What was what daddy?" Harley smiled, trying to act normal.

"Koko." Her dad's stern voice scared her.

She sighed heavily and gave up. She opened the drawer and gave him the paper she was writing. He looked over it and looked back at her.

"What's this for?" He asked.

"I want to help." Harley whispered.

"Help what Koko." Her dad crouched down by her.

"I want to help you with money." Harley admitted. "I've been writing stories so hopefully it can get published and I can give you the money. That way you don't always have to be tired when you come home from work."

"Oh Koko." her dad smiled. "Thank you. But I want to help you, your brother, your sister and your mother."

"I want to help too." Harley smiled.

"Well let's make a deal." Her dad stood. "If you get your story published, which I'm sure you will, you can treat me out for some burgers and shopping."

"Shopping?" Harley giggled. "You really want to go shopping?"

"With you?" Her dad grinned. "Of course."

"Fine." Harley laughed. "Deal."

Her dad shook her hand and he walked back out. Harley was glad that he was supporting her. He even believes that her stories can get published! That was why she loved her dad.

Harley continued to write her story and this time she was trying to lighten the mood since her dad made her happy. It was really rare that she could be happy.

Once she was done, she sighed and looked at her work. Well she wasn't actually finished, she was just done for the day.

She placed the papers into her drawer and walked over to her bed. She was now tired and she was happy that she could finally sleep in.

Harley fell face first on her soft bed and almost fell asleep. She opened her eyes when she noticed that there was someone standing at her door way.

"Oh." Harley sat up and smiled. "What's up Hayley?"

"I just came to see what you were doing." Hayley glared.

"Oh well I was just about to go to sleep." Harley giggled. "What did you need?"

"I wanted to tell you something really." Hayley walked into the room and sat on the bed.

She hated the way Harley's bed was more soft then her own. She was envious of how their father would spoil Harley more than Hayley. Harley doesn't even like it either!

"You said you were with Jayden and Austin today right?" Hayley tried smiling.

"Oh yes." Harley giggled. "Those two are funny. Well Austin is, but Jayden's actions are also funny."

Harley remembered when Austin told her that Jayden ate most of the buffet and that Austin had to pay for it. It made her laugh and they looked like really good friends.

"Yeah I didn't know that." Hayley glared.

Hayley knew that her sister was older by 3 hours but she also knew that Harley was sweet. No matter what Hayley did to her, she would always smile and laugh it off.

"Oh I'm sorry." Harley smiled lightly. "I can introduce you guys if you want."

"No thanks." Hayley held up her hand. "I can introduce myself, without your help."

Harley smiled and nodded her head. She was dying on the inside. Why did her sister hate her so much that she would say it to her face and making it obvious.

"I want you to do something." Hayley growled.

"What is it?" Harley smiled brightly.

"Stay away from Jayden and Austin." Hayley barked. "They're mine. Not yours."

Harley didn't know what to do. She actually liked hanging out with those two even though they barley started to hang out. It was also okay with her too since Jayden is the town's bad boy. She would not want to be seen around him at school.

"Fine." Harley smiled sweetly. "I'll stay away from them."
