The Curse of Violets
Introduction
It started in July, ended in February. She was my world but it was a world built on ashes and salted earth. We ended in the same terrifying firestorm that we were birthed from.
Featherlight
Soft
Fleeting
Like blades of grass kissing the wind
As she passes gently over her lovers
Gentle strokes over milky skin
Goose flesh and shivers
Reminiscent of decadent chocolate
And bittersweet cherry juice
Unintended kisses from fingers
Afraid to harm the skin they trace
Winces and protests
A moment passes before she trusts my touch
How can something so sweet
Feel so drastically different
To me
And to you
My Beast
I am reminded of a balmy summer day
The smell of Dirt and a hazy layer of thick air
Wet kisses draped over goose flesh
Scarlet nails leaving trails of smoldering ash
She tastes like acceptance and invitation
Unaware of the slimy black tendrils
That wrap around your finger tips saying
"Not enough, not enough"
Though blotches of cherry-red skin
Dapple your neck
Evidence of the fire in her belly
And the passion on her tongue
There is a beast that can't be broken
By nails and teeth
Talons and fangs
It laughs its heavy laugh at your pleasure
It leaves its own saliva on your chin
Dribbling down as it reminds you
"You will never be enough"
When she leaves
You fall back into the arms of your beast
And she falls back into
Normalcy
With clenched teeth you weep
Into the matted torn fur
Of the vast nothingness around you
It wraps its claws around soft flesh
And strips you of your tenderness
It nudges your head into it's truth
"You've never been anything to them"
Cold flames lick at your feet
As you realize that it was right all along
You dont exist within her
She stripped herself of you
Like she stripped herself of her coat
When she walked through her front door
But her scent drapes around you
Her memory drags along your skin
Pulling and demanding
As they always do
The fog of sticky tar clouds your vision
It replaces her love bites
With its own deep wounds
And says
"They dont need you like i do"
