Know your enemy

  Because professionals usually have significantly more rewarding targets in your mind (think Kim Kardashian's Paris robbery!) , your threats are the semi-pro along with the opportunist.  They make any sustained effort to break and are searching for easy and quick targets.

There are three types of burglar:

By way of instance, if a"salesman" knocks at your door but you do not observe a business car anywhere in sight, it can be a burglar simply checking to see whether you're in.  They may slip around the back to check for doors and windows, too.

This CCTV footage captured a burglar dressed as a delivery freelancer rapping at the door.  Little did the homeowner know there were a bunch of thugs waiting to attack her home...

Each crook has their personal modus operandi, however they all show some form of suspicious behaviour.

Ask yourself - is my home attractive to burglars?  

These low-level criminals do not need hassle, so they will move away from houses which show clear security systems.  They will also avoid houses and well-tended homes because they're more likely to be viewed breaking .

Seek out a quality security Program 

Licensed professionals, such as Blake's, only install Grade 2 & 3 alarms that qualify for monitoring and Authorities response.  

Were you aware, the affordable DIY alerts available on the shelves are Grade 1 alarms - the cheapest quality, cheapest alarms out there. They should have a quality water leak detector with them.
