Hudson's River

Introduction

People tend to be cliché and compare life to simple things. "Life is like a chocolate box." "Life is like a book where you are the author." "Life is like a road." Ya know, simple stuff.

And I don't want to add to the pile of never ending clichés, but life is like a river. Correction: MY life is like a river. It's always sweeping me under the current. As I try to gasp for breathe, another current pulls me in deep. So, I guess you can say this story is a river. My river. Hudson's river. So, here goes.

Chapter 1

Hudson was a man of integrity. Or so he thought. Every day he got in his taxi cab and put on a smile for those he drove around. Life wasn't exactly rubies and diamonds, but it was an honest living.

Let's just skip to the part we care to read about: the lady that changed his life. Frankie was blonde. Frankie was beautiful. Frankie was witty, and silly, and chaotic. Everything that warns the main character to stop while he's ahead.

Hudson remembers the exact corner he picked her up at. He remembers the moment his life changed. But to Frankie, it was just another cab ride.

"How is your day?" Hudson struggled to find the words.

Frankie shrugged him off.

"Miss, I don't want this cab ride to go through without me saying that you..."

"Turn up here, right." Frankie said, as she pulled her phone out.

Hudson pulled over and managed to crack out a, "Have a great day", while he let what seemed to be the love of his life walk away.

Hoe could I be so stupid?
