A Cat Named Max Finds a Cup of Milk.

There are so many reasons why I love cats. However; the truth is that, not everyone loves to take very good care of their cats like I take care of my cat. I most times wish I could have all the cats in the world in my home but mom won't allow that so I just have one cat. I always go to the park on Saturdays with Jimmy my best friend to play and most times with both our families for a picnic. For the past 4 months, I have always been noticing a cat walking by with Mr. Campbell and it stares at me so much I just can't help but to know more about it.

Mr. Campbell is one of the very few old men in our area who has lived almost all his life there. He is a very friendly man but I have never talked with him for more than a minute. I always heard him talk to a Max whenever I passed by his house in the morning but I wondered who the Max was because we all know he lived alone. It's November and the whole area is so excited about Christmas approaching. However; Mr. Campbell does not seem to be so excited about Christmas.

Yesterday for the very first time, my basketball fell into his yard and although I was scared, I rang his bell and tried to use this moment as an opportunity to know him and Max who I didn't know about.

Mr. Campbell opened the door only for me to find him smiling with my basketball at the gate. I apologized and he said I should not worry. He gave me my ball and turned to go when I stopped and asked him if I could come in and play with Max. I didn't know who Max was and that was exactly what I needed to find out. Mr. Campbell smiled and called Max. Yes, that was when I realized the malnurished looking cat that starred at me in the park was Max.

I smiled when Max approached and asked Mr. Campbell why he named it Max. He then invited me to sit and told me a long story about how he met Max and how Max became his cat. He said he saved Max from a car accident on one of his trips to the next city when he was 24 years old and brought him and since then, Max has been his cat. I smiled at Mr. Campbell because; I was very happy he loved cats like I also do. However; I was wondering why Max was looking so skinny and malnurished. So, I asked him what food Max eats.

He gave me a long list but surprisingly there was no milk. I was very surprised but I guess I now understood why Max looked so unhealthy and tired all the time. Mr. Campbell told me about himsellf and Max. He said, he has 4 children whom are all female and not home because they were married and living with their families.

He looked very sad when he talked about his family so I decided to give him a surprise. As the days went on, I continued to visit Mr. Campbell first alone then later on started visiting with my friend Jimmy. I was able to find the phone numbers of all his daughthers in a diary near the telephone so I wrote them down and called them one by one telling them who I was and why I felt they visiting their father this Christmas will be great. I was able to get great responses from 3 but the last was not quite sure. However; over the days I called and called till she also gave me the greenlight.

So, now I had been able to sort out Mr. Campbell's need of seeing his daughters but now it was left with Max and how I could make sure a cat named Max finds a cup of milk. I love smart cats, so I am used to putting cups of milk in a puzzle form for my cat to find himself and drink. This was exactly what I planned with Max. He was now looking better and all that was needed was his first milk in like 5 years to set him on the road of richness.

I started setting the traps and creating those puzzles in Mr. Campbell's home. I made sure all clues where places where Max knew and used very well. I started my plan and on the morning of the 24th of December I baked the milk cookies. Mr. Campbell's daughters promised to visit on the eve of the 24th of December which is that same day. So, I decided to stay in Mr. Campbell's home for the entire day.

I told mom about the surprise and she helped me by baking a cake and making some fresh pineapple juice for me to take along with me to Mr. Campbell's house not forgetting Max's box of milk. After everything was settled, mom helped arrange them into the big basket for me and she put the milk cookies into a bowl that will keep its warm for even over a day.

I called all 4 children of Mr. Campbell and they assured me they were on their way. What I didn't know however is if they would come one by one or together. So, I called the eldest child back to ask and she said they would come together which meant they will meet at the airport. I was very happy; I went to take my bath and came down all dressed up. I took my cat along with me to Mr. Campbell's house to meet Max.

They played while I decorated the home and brought to life an old Christmas tree that was in the living area. After I was done I realized it was 5:42 pm then I heard the bell ring. So I told Mr. Campbell to let me get the gate.

I was so surprised when I saw 5 very beautiful women with their families smiling at me. They knew at once I was the one who called them. I left them to enter when I started to set the puzzle for Max. I went into the living room where everyone was waiting for me. I ran to hug Mr. Campbell and he was very happy. They also brought some stuff and re-set the table for us to eat and drink. In some minutes I saw Max run into the hall with milk all over his mouth then I knew he had drank the milk. We had a great evening and the women were staying till new years and would take their father with them. I was very happy and a cat named Max finds a cup of milk which made him happy too!

A Cat Named Oliver Rescues 3 Kittens.

There are so many stories that have been told about cats that have had the will to save their fellow cats, kittens and even risk their lives to save humans. This has made it very easy for cats to be loved by a wider population of people. Well, I had personally heard of many incidents of cats rescuing kittens and so on from my friends. The truth though was that, I never believed all that my friends said until one faithful Monday morning. Yes, this Monday; I realized how heroic some cats can be and the name of this cat I witnessed rescue 3 kittens is Oliver.

It all began one hot Sunday afternoon when I was coming back from church with my older brother Jude. I was telling him how I doubted the many great rescue stories people said about cats. I gave him so many reasons why I felt that way and he did not agree with me because; he said he was a witness to one amazing rescue of a baby by a cat.

He told me how a cat was able to alert a neighboring shop owner of a fire outbreak in his home with the shop owner's children fast asleep. The story was very convincing and quite touching especially because there was a baby involved. I was forced to believe what my older brother was saying but deep down in my heart, I wished I could witness my own cat rescue.

We got home and I was still wishing to have a real experience on my own. I ate lunch, took my shower and took a story book from the library. I started reading my story book about Peter Pan. I loved the last line of the first page when I heard my brother calling. He ran into my room and called me to come with him at once.

He told me a few blocks from our house; a cat had once again saved the life of a boy. He took me and we ran only to meet the scene die out. I was very disappointed and he said he was sorry. I was happy though that he really was interested in my realizing how special cats are. I went back to my story book and read till it was dinner then took my bath, watched some movies then kissed my parents goodnight.

I woke up on Monday morning more depressed about this issue than before. I walked down the stairs quietly and since there was no school, I just went back up and took my bath not forgetting to brush my teeth then went ahead to eat my breakfast that was already set on the table. Jude came in while I was eating my breakfast and told me to get ready because he wanted us to go and take a walk. I was excited so I started eating and went to Jude in the garden when I was ready. I had my video camera with me to take pictures of events that unfold as we took the walk.

We walked past Dr. Simpson’s house where there was a big gutter. Due to recent rainfalls, we realized the gutter was flooded. As we walked by we saw a group of people gathered watching the other end of the gutter. We joined them so I turned the video camera on. All I heard was Oliver. We went close but I went closer and to my surprise I was capturing a cat in the flood trying to rescue some kittens. I still heard Oliver being mentioned that is when I realized Oliver was a cat.

I was very surprised with what I saw. There were 3 kittens getting drowned by the flood. Oliver jumped into the water and rescued them one by one. It was amazing how Oliver went about this rescue.

Jude my elder brother smiled at me after the entire rescue was over. He watched me play the video of the rescue all over again but said nothing until I broke the silence by saying "this is amazing". Jude smiled and asked me if I believed now? I just couldn't bring myself to doubt it anymore. Yes, Oliver had proven me wrong. He had proven to me that even animals cared and were compassionate. Oliver, Oliver, Oliver; the name of this cat was ringing in my ears all through our walk back.

I eagerly waited for the beginning of the school year to show the video of Oliver's rescuing of 3 kittens to my friends. Now I wished I had a cat and also wished he was as strong and lovely like Oliver. A cat named Oliver rescues 3 kittens, that was the news in town for more than a month and I was the fortunate owner of any kind of proof about the entire happenings on that day. I now own a cat and I love to train him on a daily basis to make sure he is very smart and strong. Oliver changed my perspective.

Cats can be lovely as long as they are taken extremely good care of. I made sure the video I took was edited and put on CD's for my friends in the area and also at home. I see Oliver on a regular basis with his owner taking a walk down our street.

I always pray to witness first hand another amazing incident of a brave cat coming to the rescue. I respect cats and over the days I have heard more amazing cat rescues. However; Oliver's rescuing of the 3 kittens still remains fresh in my memory.

I am one of the campaigners of cats being one of the greatest pets because of what I saw one faithful Monday morning. Most times, I wonder how many more rescues Oliver will be going through with. However; he got me thinking and made me a believer which I am very grateful for. A cat named Oliver rescued 3 kittens and got me loving cats for good!
