Chapter 1 – Breakfast

Everyone knows that starting out your day with a great breakfast is necessary! You have to fuel that body, so why not fuel it with yummy and easy things to make?

1. Crescent Sausage Mini Squares

- 2 cans of crescent rolls

- 1 package of cream cheese

- 1 package of breakfast sausage (To make things easier you can always get the pre-cooked breakfast sausage already crumbled in a package.)

- Canned oil spray or butter to grease the cookie sheet

Preheat oven to 325°F.

If you didn't buy the pre-cooked crumbled breakfast sausage package, cook your breakfast sausage links in a frying pan. Ask an adult for help if you do not know how to cook sausage. Once sausage is fully cooked, set aside to cool.

Take one of the cans of crescent rolls and open it. Spread out the dough in one roll on greased cookie sheet. Do not separate. Keep dough in one piece.

Take the package of cream cheese and spread out all over on top of the dough with a butter knife. Don’t use a sharp knife because it’s not necessary and you may cut yourself!

Take the crumbled sausage package or cooked sausage and crumble it. Spread over cream cheese on top of crescent dough.

Open second can of crescent rolls and place over the cream cheese and crumbled sausage.

Bake for 12 - 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Ask an adult to help you cut into squares with a sharp knife. If you do it alone, please be careful not to cut yourself!

2. Chocolate Waffles

- 3 cups flour

- 4 eggs

- 1/2 tablespoon salt

- 3 1/2 cups milk

- 2 tablespoons baking powder

- 2/3 cup sugar

- 2/3 cup cocoa powder

- 1 cup oil

***Note! You must have a waffle iron for this recipe!***

Pre-heat waffle iron.

Take a large bowl and mix flower, salt, baking powder, sugar and cocoa powder all together. Set the bowl aside.

In a different bowl, take the eggs, milk and oil and slightly beat together with a wire whisk or large fork. When you are done, add mixture to the other bowl of ingredients.

Mix all the ingredients together in one bowl. Be careful not to over mix the ingredients though.

Take a one cup measuring cup and scoop out batter and pour onto pre-heated waffle iron. Follow the directions on your waffle iron on how to cook a waffle.

Optional: Serve with whipped cream or syrup.

Makes 6 waffles.

3. Chocolate Banana Crepes

- 1 jar Nutella or melted chocolate

- 2 cups Bisquick

- 2 bananas, thinly sliced

- 2 eggs

- 1 1/2 cups milk

- Crepe pan or non-stick frying pan

- 1 stick of butter

In a large bowl mix Bisquick, two eggs and only 1 cup of the milk. After all is mixed together, add the rest of the milk and mix.

Grease the crepe pan or frying pan with a little butter. Pour the mixture into the pan so that it makes a large, thin circle. Now spread out mixture by lifting up the pan and tilting it in different directions.

Be careful not to burn yourself! Ask an adult if you need help.

Flip the crepe with a spatula once it starts to bubble and then cook on other side.

After the crepe is cooked, gently place it open face on a plate and spread a very thin layer of the chocolate or Nutella on one side of the crepe and then place about three or four slices of banana on top of the chocolate or Nutella. Fold up the crepe and top with whipped cream if desired.

Depending on how thick or thin your crepe is will determine how many crepes you will make.

Take a large bowl and mix together; flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt.

Take a separate bowl and mix; egg yolks, milk, vanilla, oil, and sugar. Once mixed together, stir into the other bowl with ingredients. Mix together until batter is smooth and there are no lumps.

Gently stir in egg whites. Let stand for a few minutes. Grease your waffle iron and then use a one cup measuring cup to scoop out and pour the batter onto your waffle iron. Follow the directions on your waffle iron.

Serve with syrup or add strawberries and whipped cream to make Belgian waffles!

How many waffles being made will depend on how big your waffle iron is.

Use a pair of tongs or a fork to dip each bread slice into the mixture one at a time.

Tip: Dip the bread into the mixture long enough to soak, but don't over soak or your bread will fall apart. This takes some practice!

Cook soaked bread slice on the hot griddle or skillet over medium heat for 2 - 3 minutes on each side. Use a spatula or even a potato masher and gently press down until your French toast is golden brown and crispy in the center without burning the crust.

Optional: Add powdered sugar, syrup, honey, whipped cream or fresh fruit!

Depending how much you soak your bread for depends on serving amount.

You will need a baking pan or square casserole dish to make this!

Preheat oven to 350°F

Spray pan or casserole dish with canned oil spray. Take corn tortillas and add a layer overlapping each one a little, enough to cover the bottom of the pan or casserole dish.

Open cans of enchilada sauce. Pour enough sauce over tortillas to cover tortillas, not too much though.

Sprinkle cheese over layered tortillas and sauce. Then add another layer of tortillas, sauce and cheese. Create 4 - 5 layers, it depends on how big your pan or casserole dish is. The top should have sauce and cheese.

Take a fork and poke the potatoes about three times each on each side. Wrap each potato in foil and make sure they are covered completely.

Place potatoes on a cookie sheet and place in oven. Bake for 60 minutes.

When pasta is done and tender, take a colander, one of those bowls with small holes for draining food, and place it in the sink and poor water with pasta into the bowl. Be careful and use oven mitts, pot will be hot and also be careful because steam will come up from the pot as you pour the pot into the colander.

In the skillet on medium-high heat, cook beef with onion until beef is brown. Drain the fat. Ask an adult to help you with this because it will be hot and if you pour it down the drain, you will clog the kitchen sink drain.

Once drained, add the spaghetti sauce, pepperoni and pasta all together and stir thoroughly.

Pour mixture into the 9x13 inch baking dish. Top with the mozzarella cheese.

Bake in oven for 30 minutes, then take out to cool and serve. Don't forget to use your oven mitts!

Lay flat in refrigerator cool in the fridge overnight or until hardened.

When hardened, spread Nutella onto truffle so there is about 3/4 centimeters thickness on top of the first layer. Leave a little room on the outside for crust.
