Prologue

She:

I've always imagined of a perfect love. I always  imagine of that man standing by the door of the auditorium, with flowers on his hand as I am on stage, belting out the song I dedicate to him. I imagine his encouraging smile as I perform before the crowd. As a celebrity, I am loved by many. I know I'm lucky because I have these fans supporting me all the way. But at the end of the day, I long for the love and support of one person - him. He, that one person who would silently support me, who would stand by the shadow as he watched me shine, who would hold my hand when I feel scared. And as he kisses my lips, he would take away all the doubts, the fears, the pain that I feel inisde.

Of all the men that have been vying for my love, I could not find him in them. But I wish... I just wish, I could find him soon...

He:

Love? It's a sickening feeling that I swore never to feel. Love is overrated. It's stupid. All it gives you is pain and tears. I've seen people get hurt. I've seen how my parents fought like there's no tomorrow. I've seen how my best friend cried when her boyfriend left her. I, myself, have shared the same bitter experience of it. So, why believe in it? That's why I never committed myself to someone. That's why I chose to have affairs, than go for a long-term relationship. Why waste your time with someone and emotionally invest yourself to love, when you knew that you're not gonna end up with each other? It's just a waste of time, and I'd rather waste my time on something productive.

Maybe, if she had not hurt me too much, I wouldn't end up not believing in love at all...

Chapter One: Behind The Scenes

"When we finally have each other in our arms

All the sadness will have sweet endings

Shall we patiently wander

For love will come, when the time is right"

As Heidi hit the last note, the music began to fade away. As soon as the music stopped, she put her headphones back to its stand, and looked at the person outside the recording booth. The man smiled at him, and gave her a thumbs up. With that, she went out of the recording booth, and gave the man a hugged.

“Thank you for the big help, Alvin.” she told her record producer. “Thank you for being as awesome as always, Heidi. I'm sure your new album would be a big hit.” he said. The petite girl simply smiled shyly at him. “I really hope so, Alvin.” she blushed. “I know it will. Anyway, I know you have a full schedule ahead. Your PA is waiting for you outside.” Alvin said, pointing by the door. Heidi peeked at the door, and saw her PA, Eileen busily talking on her mobile phone. “I heard there are some changes on your schedule today, and she had been talking with the people involved to get your schedule fixed.” Alvin said. “I'm so lucky to have Eileen as my PA, don't you think?” she asked. Alvin nodded his head. “Very lucky.”

Heidi went out of the door, and upon seeing her, Eileen immediately ended the call. “You wouldn't believe how messed up your schedule is today because of boss.” Eileen sighed. “And I know you took care of it the whole time.” Heidi said confidently. Eileen let out a weary smile. “Of course I did. I didn't want to sacrifice your previous commitments. I know you wouldn't want to be late with any of them, right?” Heidi nodded her head. “So, let's go? We need to have your hair fixed for the photoshoot today.” Eileen said.

She watched her assistant as she gathered her things. “Hey, Eileen, did Devon call?” Heidi asked. Eileen looked up at her and shook her head. “I haven't heard from him.” she said. “He said he'll call me as soon as he arrives...” Heidi said with a hint of sadness. Seeing how worried her boss is, Eileen put her arms around her shoulder and tapped it. “Don't worry, Ms. Heidi. I know Sir Devon will call as soon as he arrives. Maybe there's just some delay in his flight.”

Devon had been Heidi's longtime boyfriend. They belong to the same management, and had started dating since he starred in one of her music videos. They had plans that evening to have dinner after he arrive from his filming in Singapore, but so far, she had not heard from her boyfriend.

They went to their next stop – a photoshoot for a cover of a women's magazine. After the photoshoot, she was interviewed by one of the reporters of the magazine for the cover story. “I heard you are going to release a new album soon. Can you tell us more about it?” the female reporter asked. “Of course. My new album would be all about love. It's about finding love, falling in love, and giving love a second chance.” Heidi said confidently. “I'm sure you've written a song or two yourself in this new album.”

“Definitely. Actually, not just a song or two. I wrote more than half of the songs in this album, that's why I'm excited for it. It's more of a personal album for me.”

“Will you be singing your new songs on your upcoming concert?”

“Definitely. Those new songs will be in the lineup for my concert.”

“So how's everything between you and Devon Hernandez? Any plans for a wedding soon?”

Heidi let out laugh.

“Everything's going well between me and Devon. It's just that we haven't talked about wedding plans yet. We're both busy with our career, and we wanted to focus on our works first before settling down.”

Heidi let out a sigh after answering the reporter's question. She know for herself that her answer about her and Devon is a lie. All this time, she had been waiting for Devon to pop the question to her, but until know, it seems that Devon has no definite plans for the two of them. He enjoys his bachelorhood, and she just couldn't wait to spend forever with him.

“You always said that the first song you composed will always be special for you, why is that?” she heard the reporter ask again. Heidi looked up at her and smiled. “It is special not only because it was one of the first songs I composed. It is special because there is a story behind it.” Heidi answered. “Can you tell us the story behind it?”

“It is a song for a boy I know back in high school.” Heidi answered. In an instant, memories came back to her as vivid as it was before. “It was for a special boy I know who inspired me to be who I am today...” she added.

“I'm glad that photoshoot is over... we can rest for a while.” Eileen said as she slumped on the couch. They went back to Heidi's condo unit to rest for a while before their next scheduled commitment. “We have two hours to go before you go for that interview.” Eileen added.

Heidi sat on the couch nextto Eileen, her eyes glued to the screen of her phone. “He still hasn't called, right?” Eileen asked. Heidi shook her head slowly. “I wonder what happened to him...” she said in a low voice. “Don't worry about him, he's a big boy.” Eileen said. “It's weird that I haven't heard even a news about him. Do you think it's weird?” Heidi asked her. Eileen paused for a while, and stared at her. She looked at her as if contemplating whether to tell her what she know or not.

“You... you know you don't have to worry much about your boyfriend. If he messed up or something, it will be in the news. So, if he's not in the news, then it means he's being a good boy. So, I think you should go and prepare for your interview today, all right?” Eileen said. Heidi pouted as she protested at her assistant. “Come on. Just go and prepare, all right? I'll let you know if I heard something about your boyfriend.” Eileen said.

Heidi forced herself to stand up and head to her room to prepare. Meanwhile, Eileen felt guilty for keeping something from her boss. But what can she do, it was the order from their management.

Don't you ever tell Heidi that Devon's back, all right?” Heidi's manager, Annie, told her a while ago while Heidi was recording her song. “Devon's back?” Eileen asked in a surprised tone. Annie nodded her head. “And things are not going great, because it seems that the rumor about him and his new leading lady is true.” Annie said. Eileen gasped upon hearing what Annie said. “You mean, Devon's having an affair with his new leading lady?” she asked. Annie nodded her head.

You know this would affect Heidi so much. And her schedule's full right now, we can't afford it if she gets too emotional if she finds out.” Annie said. She put her hands on Eileen's shoulder, and looked straight into her eyes. “Promise me you won't say anything to her.” Annie said. “But, Ms. Annie...”

We have to keep this from her to avoid her being compromised. You don't want to see her crying again, right?”

Eileen fell silent for a while. She let out a sigh, and just nodded her head.

“Welcome to 100% Showbiz, and tonight, we have a very special guest. Please welcome, Asia's sweetheart, Heidi Torres.”

With that cue, Heidi entered the studio. She gave the hosts a quick peck on the cheek, and took her seat. The interview goes well as they talked about her upcoming album, and her concert. They also talked about her relationship with Devon, and if there are already talks about marriage.

Just like before, Heidi gave a generic answer for that question. “We haven't really talked about wedding plans. We're focused on our career for the mean time.” she answered. “Oh, and I heard that Devon is filming a new drama in Singapore, right?” the female host asked. Heidi nodded her head. “He is, that's why he's busy most of the time.” she answered. “Are you affected by the rumors about Devon, and his new leading lady, Mandy Perez?” the male host asked.

Heidi was taken aback by what the host asked. “Actually, I'm not aware of any rumors about Devon and his new leading lady. But even if there is, I give all my trust to Devon.” she answered. The whole interview moved smoothly, and she doesn't know how she was able to handle it – laughing and looking happy in front of the camera. But at the back of her mind, Heidi was bothered. Was there something about Devon that she doesn't know?
