The Girl & the Flame

I loved you more than a person should.

It was an honor to call your bones home.

I still could get lost in you.

I like to think of you as s city, swallowing buildings and skyscrapers, painting your veins with light.

You kept trying to hide the dark alleys in your eyes.

I always believed the most beautiful things come from fire, like glass and ash and Phoenixes.

And it makes me wonder, sweetheart,

Who set you ablaze?

Quit lying to yourself, baby

After loving you for so long,

If there's anything I learned

It's that nothing beautiful can last forever,

And even Rome burned.
