The Lion Eating the Sun

Nuzzle

I write a message addressed to the cosmos

And hope the weatherman picks it up.

Not feeling the sunny sky of the town of Vamos,

Other shades of blue are not enough.

If by design you get to read my letter,

Forgive humanity for its unintentional crime.

Heed my request to make me feel better,

Please nuzzle up against me one more time.

Tap your paw from left to right

In a metronomical loop made by an identical tail.

Do not go gentle into that good night,

Into the cosmic future we both shall sail.

Get inside my bag that appears to be empty,

Inside you scream and scratch my skin.

I trade my blood for your serenity.

Our souls converge, you are my twin.

Let me call your name twice 'cause I'm compulsive

Or obsessive, in the watching eyes of them.

Though I lean more towards being protective,

I'll keep you safe in Bethlehem.

Hop in my bed, proceed to annoy

Me with your innocence, you little beast.

Too much devotion for such a boy,

You deserve an extraterrestrial feast.

The lion eating the sun is a given

And so is Maui snatching somebody else's eyes.

But do not depart yet to rainbow heaven,

Time you spent with me is not yet wise.

Too late, you now decompose to dust

And live in a star where you'll spend your prime.

My plea before memory begins to rust:

Please nuzzle up against me one last time

Maybe

Agitated clouds, flighty waves

The ocean's about to turn crazy

Will the boat flip? Am I brave?

Can I jump in the sea, maybe?

Up ahead, there's an island

From where I'm at though it's hazy

Shelter? People? I need to scan

Could there be a monster, maybe?

Sneaky holes under my feet

Salty water's becoming weighty

The thought of leaving is bittersweet

Will the familiar save me, maybe?

Sunk or sundered, any droplet now

From the inside out, it's getting rainy

I have to decide anyhow

Stay or go? I don't know, maybe?

Miss You

The day I greet

with a dessert so sweet

my tongue and ice cream meet

but I miss you

The sale is so fly

puts me on a retail high

dropping I ought to try

but I miss you

Jumanji is fun

more animals, less gun

with adrenaline they run

but I miss you

The Chainsmokers are on air

pairs making out everywhere

I act like I don't care

but I miss you

A falling star appears

I hold back my tears

it's been so many years

still I miss you

The pillow's my companion

helpful to my imagination

sweeps my feelings of rejection

still I miss you

The sun's in a good mood

I have no reason to brood

over feelings skewed

but I miss you

The waves look inviting

sand on my feet are scorching

bodies are delighting

my hormones but I miss you

Don's tail is wagging

he hugs me and starts licking

my fingers as they start tickling

his belly but I miss you

My new shirt's print

in the color of peppermint

is reminiscent of Miley's stint

still I miss you

I'm running a bit late

to my rendezvous with a new date

hope favorable is my fate

so I won't miss you

We have Chinese for dinner

I want to believe I have a winner

so again I can be a beginner

then I don't miss you

Under the moonlight we share a kiss

is this

a kiss? where is

the bliss?

(can't help but reminisce...)

something's amiss

because I miss you.
