"That hot ass man came out of your laptop?" Vi stared at me in disbelief, her head tilted to the side.

I shoved a spoonful of ice cream inside my mouth, "Mhm."

We both turned our heads to see the man sitting a few tables away from us, watching him take a sip of his hot chocolate.

"This is some Black Mirror shit." Vivi quietly muttered.

all credit goes to @yooka. the characters and the story are completely fictional. any similarities and/or exact descriptions or such is purely a coincidence.

(if you were ever on wattpad and saw a plot similar to this [parker - northome] that's mine! just decided to rewrite it here)

Chapter 1

Another night with just me, I thought as I made my way into my room. I stripped off my work clothes and put on a giant t-shirt before slipping into bed, not bothering to take a shower. Who’s there to impress?

“What’s up, Ren?” I said as I cracked open my laptop. Three bright letters shone on the keyboard as it powered on:

R     E     N.

It always lit up in that order before the other letters did and I never understood why, but it didn’t really bother me much. Just as I logged into Twitter, my phone blasted its ringtone from the pile of clothes next to my bed.

Ugh. I stretched my arm and grabbed it, my best friend's smiling face on the screen.

"Hey babe." I muttered as I scrolled through my Twitter feed.

"Da-a-a-a-a-aisy, twenty-one!" Vi sang along to the 2NE1 song playing in the background.

I sighed, knowing well enough why she called me, "Need a ride?"

"Yu-u-u-u-u-u-up! At DC’s!" She slurred, immediately ending the call. I got a text a few seconds later with the house's location - as if I didn't know where it was already.

I sighed, sad to leave my comfortable position. I dragged myself downstairs as I pulled up the first pair of shorts I could find and rushed to the car. In no more than five minutes, I arrived at a huge, very familiar house with a very familiar scene. Red solo cups and underaged teens were scattered around the grass. I walked right into the entrance, getting more exhausted when I saw the huge crowd in the middle of the living room. "Vi, what the fuck." I mumbled under my breath. My eyes searched the crowd to find the owner of the house.

    "Dante!" I happily called out.

He turned, nearly falling over, but managed to give me a smile. “Dey-see! Nice seeing you here!” He cheered. He wrapped his sweaty arms around me and I immediately recoiled. "Haven't seen the party girl we miss recently. Are we gonna see her tonight?"

“Okay, calm down boy.” I laughed, “Nah, wish I could stay here longer but I’m here to pick up Vi. Have you seen her around?”

“Aw. But, yeah,” He slurred, “she’s, uh, with Keith in the kitchen. I think.” Aw, Keith? I thought they were officially broken up this time.

“Okay thank-“ I couldn’t even finish my sentence before he hugged me again. I laughed and patted his arm, leaving him to whatever he was doing before making my way to the kitchen.

"Vi! Vivi!" I called out, pulling my arm from the group I pushed through. And there she was, arms wrapped around her "ex". Her eyes slowly panned over to me, a nervous smile making its way on her face. Even while drunk, she knew damn well I'd be pissed to see her close to Keith. "Alright," I gave the boy a quick grimace and quickly pulled my drunk best friend off him, "I'll take her from here." He opened his mouth to protest, but quickly shut up when he saw my glare.

I then quickly made my way through the mass of people and rushed outside the house, not forgetting to wave goodbye at Dante of course. He saw the state Vi was in and gave me an apologetic look. "It's fine." I mouthed. I pushed her into the car and got inside too. I couldn't wait to get home and get back into my comfortable bed.

The car ride home was insufferable. Vi couldn't stop talking about how Keith and her "made a connection" then abruptly changed to the fact that she didn't need him (which caused a quiet cheer from me) then went back to how much she needed him. I've gone through too much of this shit and I didn't even bother to listen to whatever was coming out of her mouth. See, this is one of the reasons why I view love as a burden. No, I'm not completely against the idea, it's just the process of finding the "right one" seemed too difficult (especially in this economy). So I was always that one bitter friend who always gave advice and was used as a shoulder to cry on since I was fifteen.

When we got home, I gave Vi a few glasses of water before rushing her to the spare bed I had under mine. Five minutes didn't pass before she was fast asleep. "Finally." I sighed and decided to take a quick shower to get rid of the alcohol smell. I slipped into bed and opened my laptop - and it didn't turn on. "What the fuck!" I angrily whispered.

REN, REN, REN, REN...

My keyboard refused to stop repeating those three letters. It was honestly kind of creeping me out, but I was too physically and emotionally exhausted to think deeper about it. And right then and there, I fell asleep.

REN, REN, REN, REN...

chapter one is up! not much action really happened here and i'm sorry, it's more of an intro pt 2 i guess!!! hope you all enjoyed nonetheless :-)
